For anyone that is familiar with me, you will know that I am rather fond of the Class 442. I was wondering if anyone knew the typical announcement routine on the Gatwick Express when travelling between London Victoria and Gatwick/Brighton (and vice versa). I only seem to come across the units...

I can't recall what the ventilation is like on either of those units as I have not encountered them for a while. I'd imagine, if that's the case with the /6, the /7is the same? The 455 seems to be a worthy unit. It is designed for short, inner-London services and it works for that.

You are quite right about the 387/2s; it's just wishful thinking on my part. I have grown to love the 442s on the Southern network, hence why I will be sad to see them leave. Will we ever see the 25 377/1s back on Southern ground? I shall have to buy myself a cushion for my back!

If we're talking about appropriate stock, the seating on the 387/1 isn't exactly comfortable. For a unit that runs on a, you could say, long-haul journey, you would expect the seats to be less harsh on the back. The 442s have been on Southern Mainline duties for 7 years now...30 more months...
