Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

I get a good mix of "Valid on London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway services only" walk-ups, Advances and Avanti fares for a Euston to Rugby journey. Please provide a search link so we can advise further.

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

You'd need to be more specific about the route etc that you're running into this problem on. Have you tried the intensive search in the advanced options?

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

Unfortunately, we are not permitted to search for splits exhaustively due to restrictions imposed by RDG and one of their suppliers. As a result, in a minority of cases, this can happen where the relevant Advances are not prioritised. Please see...

How to deal with a TOC that won't engage with you? - Platform alterations at Leyland station

And this is why smaller orgs run circles around stupid bureaucratic ones

How to deal with a TOC that won't engage with you? - Platform alterations at Leyland station

Hahaha, that is very true. Don't forget the architects, "SMEs", scrum master, programme director, "market support", BAs... You have my sympathies; I am lucky I still get to actually occasionally write code, albeit quite a bit less than I used to be able to.

How to deal with a TOC that won't engage with you? - Platform alterations at Leyland station

I would've thought you could've got quite a bit done, even with an engineer billed out at £1-2k a day. Certainly more than a month of work.

How to deal with a TOC that won't engage with you? - Platform alterations at Leyland station

Because it's rubbish when you can work this out from TD, and give passengers more warning. We should be striving to improve the accuracy of customer information shared via the CIS / systems like Darwin etc. It's helpful for e.g. customers with hearing issues or other disabilities too, who might...

How to deal with a TOC that won't engage with you? - Platform alterations at Leyland station

I've gotta say there's a lot of this in the industry that I find frustrating, in that it's not Northern's product. They might be an important customer, but the supplier should be driving the continuous product improvement, particularly where defects and security fixes are concerned. A good...

Can AZTEC (e-)tickets be CCST (Credit card sized tickets)?

The print resolution and the size of the CCST ticket is too poor to be able to print a type 06 barcode in a way which would still allow the ticket details to be laid out and for the barcode to be able to be scanned reliably. Today's E-Ticket/PRT barcodes need 7 or 8 layers. The ones that are...

How to deal with a TOC that won't engage with you? - Platform alterations at Leyland station

Consider sending an FoIA request for internal discussions of the matter, it'll probably shed light on what discussions have happened so far and what barriers they see as existing here.

    Magstripe On One Day Travelcards

This is a safety issue and should be reported every time it happens (and yeah, it's way too common, apparently barrier closed time is measured and tracked, so there is an incentive to game the statistics). The staff get a bollocking, particularly if it's reported out of hours to the emergency...

Query on Advance Tickets via Forum Ticket Site

It should be valid if it's offered! That's correct, it'll appear on the forum ticketing site (and in the TrainSplit app, if you have that installed). The forum ticketing site does have a self-refunds system, but unfortunately there still isn't proper ticket amendment flow implemented, like...

    PlusBus Tickets

I don't think Stagecoach use the Ticketer ETM (Electronic Ticket Machines), and are instead supplied by Vix. The document I have basically says scanning has no hope of working with non-Ticketer ETMs and "tickets should be checked visually by the driver and a manually recorded on the ticket...

Train ticket retailers charging my card with an MCC which doesn't specify train ticket purchase

Yeah.. so in Monzo for example they were putting an aeroplane emoji next to all of the Digital Railcard transactions because "travel agent" (so ... think, TUI or Hays Travel etc). I'm hoping that won't happen now. 1747135771 Yeah, it's a fair point; there's always that risk if it gets handled...

Refunded only 25% of my ticket

A good retailer will refund duplicate transactions without charging any sort of fee; it would worth reaching out to customer services to ask. Failing that, there is a dedicated chargeback category for duplicate transactions and you should talk to your payment card issuer. More generally...

Buying three tickets with a family railcard, when the Advance quota is two

I seem to recall there are some limitations with the journey planner that TrainSplit uses underneath when it comes to the idea of assigning different products to different passengers, which is likely playing a part here. I've seen similar issues with Duos as well...

Train ticket retailers charging my card with an MCC which doesn't specify train ticket purchase

I had a rummage in my inbox and it turns out that I'd already asked Raileasy's account manager at the payment service provider to fix this back in October 2023: I got a response at the time along the lines of "that seems like a pretty reasonable ask" but I think actually actioning it on their...
