HTL Buses acquired by Tower Transit

As an occasional user of HTL routes, I never know what colour bus will turn up. The majority are green but there are still plenty of buses in liveries of the previous owner as well as some new white buses. I understand that there may not be the money to paint them into green, but surely they...

    Hulley's of Baslow (Defunct)

I read somewhere that the takeover of GoCoach Hire seems to be unravelling. Is this so and if so, does anyone know anything more?

How are you all coping with the £3 cap?

I notice that this is about a £3 fare CAP. That would suggest that the maximum fare would be £3 and not necessarily a £3 flat fare. I know that a lot of companies have a flat fare system and this does help to speed up boarding, but I think if the government decided to raise the cap in two stages...

    First Potteries Discussion

Help! I've just had a quick look at the new First website and can't see any mention of service changes or updates under any of the OpCo headings. Is the only way to get updates by registering? If so, it seems to be a very odd way of encouraging folk to travel.

Trivia: Current and Historical route which are letter only

Until dereg, all Crosville routes had letter prefixes and numbers, eg S46, M37, P4, F17 etc. There were some joint routes with municipals and PTEs that were only numbers.

Trivia: Current and Historical route which are letter only

Lancaster Corp used numbers but also used O as well!

Trivia: Current and Historical route which are letter only

Gt Yarmouth Corporation used A,B,C,D and E for routes to Gorleston and 1-8 for all other routes on the east side of town where most of the entertainments were. Mind that was back in the 1950s and 60s.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Just because other companies do it doesn't mean that Lothian need to. Anyway, would not the 'new' livery layout be a clue to garage staff?

That's brilliant news! Now I can go ahead and arrange B & B for my visit back home! Just wondering if there will be vintage buses operating and if so, what route will they do?

    Blackpool Trams News

Exactly. Before Edinburghs extension to Newhaven opened someone mentioned that trams could be left at Newhaven overnight! Think of the potential for vandalism! That idea was quickly killed off and all late night trams returned to Gogarburn Depot in revenue service. Now I'm thinking why should...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

As all (or most) London buses are Red, Lothian with its' madder and white is unique in Britain and identifies as Edinburgh.

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

Sorry, but your examples are just awful. Edinburgh buses have always been madder and white - apart from that harlequin rubbish - and Edinburghers would likely not recognise one of these a Lothian bus. When these new Deckers arrive in the more or less traditional livery, I can see locals...

Lothian Group discussion (Lothian City, Lothian Country Bus and East Coast Buses)

I've had a reply from Lothian Buses about Doors Open this year. It says a date has yet to be confirmed, that it is usually held in September and that details will be posted on their website when confirmed. Hope this is of interest to all who are interested in Lothian buses.

Now that the Edinburgh extension to Newhaven is open the tram requirement is 25 out of a fleet of 27 with a 7minute frequency each day. A sensible use of resources compared to Blackpool.
