The fact that mainline crews are not trained on the Flirts is the reason VoG is not run using the 231s, it is not the reason for it not being 2tph, as the extra service could be run with 150s. The 2 tph service was pulled from the improved timetable commitment as a cost cutting exercise, along...
Newly accepted 197036 sat down on 1B50 this evening, terminated at Bridgend. TFW journey check is reporting as an "operational incident" but appeared to be a train fault judging by the messages from the driver's cab. Did an emergency stop just outside Bridgend, then crawled into the platform 10...
2B73 (1543 off Cardiff) today is showing as AT02 paired with a 150 on realtime trains. First time I've seen an AT designated in RTT. Anyone know if it actually was 4-car? RTT details shown below.

From a TFW contact I believe the uptake of PAYG has been high, and has had a noticeable impact on reducing ticket fraud. This agrees with my observations - there are queues of alighting passengers for the readers at eg Pontyclun and platform 0 at Cardiff Central after an arrival, to the point...
That struck me too, looks like a serious fire from the pictures available. It would also be interesting to know if it was an electric vehicle - that is what lithium ion batteries do under severe impact.
I thought that if you break your journey it works out the equivalent Anytime single or return fare if appropriate? You won't get the reduced PAYG fares though. It won't necessarily show this on the day of travel as it needs to work out what you've done overnight, so should show the next day.
Mainline services use platforms 3 and 4, they already cannot cope with the number of terminating services from the east, together with westbound trains. Put another 6 city line services through platform 4 every hour and it will be complete meltdown.
On arrival at Newport I immediately tapped on the inside of the gates. I didn't realise they distinguished between entry and exit, so I've ended up with two incomplete journeys, the system thinks I've exited at both Newport and Bridgend with no corresponding entries, and given me a penalty...
Ok, thanks. I will try and see what they say. Can't do anything at the moment as the PAYG has got confused with my tap in at Newport, so will have to sort that first.
I traveled today Birmingham to Bridgend using a combination of an XC Advance to Newport, then onward from there on the next available TFW service using pay as you go. The train from Birmingham was near enough on time into Newport. The train from Newport to Bridgend was delayed due to signalling...
My memory agrees with AdamWW. Under ATW lots of doubled up units in the valleys, where they ran singly almost always 150s. Biggest problem with commuting was overcrowding, not reliability or the state of the trains. That all changed when Pacers were withdrawn in TFW days, with most then single...
Absolutely this, no Railcard discount selected. And no warning that the tickets are only valid for over 60s. In fact even if you checked (as I did) exactly what tickets are being offered, you might just think "Clwb 60" is just a brand, not a restriction.
Been looking up prices for an upcoming journey and both the forum site and Trainsplit were including Clwb 60 tickets in their offering. Whilst these are good value, giving 50% off advance fares, they are only for over 60s. Had I not checked exactly what tickets were being offered I could easily...
The catering cupboard on 197024 has been decorated with food images. First one I've seen like this. Looks better than the plain stainless steel doors. No food though!
There is drone footage on the Sky News, which appears to show (but I suppose could be an optical illusion) the DVT roof folded slightly down and split side to side above the front windows. Also severe damage to the window pillars. Sorry not sure how to link the video.
