Ashford International will give you HS1 Javelins, Eurostar, whatever South Eastern put out, Southern on the Rye line and assorted freights. Most Eurostars do go past rather quickly (and noisily) on the flyover, though!

There's been so many posts I can't remember if anyone's mentioned Royal Oak and Westbourne Park from the GWML. I think Rainham (Essex) is just visible from HS1. Kings Cross is certainly visible from HS1 just outside St P.

Possibly aimed at all those Spanish fishermen whose boats are registered in UK ports, especially in the South-West? :D

I recently travelled by NatEx from Dover to Swindon and back. The Dover to London coaches have leather seats - I spent a fair amount of time moving back to where I'd slid from! The older coaches on the London-Swindon run were much more comfortable.

There was a major scheme proposed about 10 years ago (when I was regularly using both the Cross-City line and Moor Street-Stourbridge) to put the Cross-City into an underground station which would also provide a link between New Street and Moor Street. It was a bit expensive...... Snow Hill...

The irony of course is that if you have tickets posted to you, they all come from the same place in Crawley no matter who you bought them from!

I gave up using the Trainline a long while back and switched to Redspottedhanky but have since found that for my relatively regular Dover-Swindon journeys, booking direct with FGW is even cheaper as they give an on-line 10% discount!

After a problem outside New Street which had shut down its western approaches, we ran from Smethwick to New Street via Perry Barr and Aston. I rang my boss at work...

Thameslink (sorry, FCC) services to Sevenoaks get into the low 30s, particularly those running through from Bedford. Then there's always the Sutton loop to consider.........

It's not as complicated as the route when the Bull Ring was being redeveloped. I was doing that trek 5 times a week in those days and you could never be sure whether it would be the same 2 days running! If I had time, I would go the long way round via New Street and The Pavilions.
