To be honest, seeing two Voyager trains coupled together to make a 8 car formation - rare though it is - is still more of a likelihood than coming across an East Midlands Trains service [much less actually board one] between Liverpool and Nottingham comprised of more than the usual 2 cars.
And...
Quite - and once he's finished serenading them, get someone to hotwire the two ends of his stupid twirly moustache to the 25kV overhead lines - let him go with a bang!
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Pace[make]rs on the line between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield is bad enough. I am just surprised and amazed that these trains have been allowed to eke out their existence for so long, despite their well documented operational / reliability problems.
Isn't it now a four trains an hour frequency to Chester? Coupled with two per hour to Ellesmere Port, meaning the common stretch between Green Lane and Hooton sees SIX trains an hour.
I didn't know they missed out a few stops..... does this mean Capenhurst is one of the ones the two extra...
Agree about the ridiculous [new] safety on the lift and escalator ones ["if you use the escalator, please take care, hold the handrail and stand to the right...." - for goodness sakes!!! At this rate they WILL be telling us how to walk sensibly on the platform next!].
These additional nannying...
Anything that is computerised will fail eventually. In fact, on Merseyrail we have the on-board voices that sometimes cut out and the accompanying text that scrolls across the LCD screen gets stuck...or states the incorrect station repeatedly.
So that proves that automation isn't necessarily...
Please don't call me a troll. I don't go out of my way to offend other forum users, it is most definitely not my intention....nor my predilection.
I might be just a little outspoken and over-passionate in what I write and say but it doesn't mean I am being consciously self-righteous. That is...
Are they going to fit rubber wheels to the Pacemakers and get them back on the roads instead? Perhaps Stagecoach can buy them all back and use them for buses again....!!!
;)
Very funny.
Each to their own, I say. :)
Many of these automated systems also have a tendency to malfunction and break down. Which of course is something you don't get with a human being who KNOWS what the frig they are doing.
Comprendez??
Maybe you like the Big Brother society we are now...
Everybody has their own particular opinions based on their experiences I suppose. It depends which part or level of the management / company you deal with though.
I have always - in general - found many of the staff approachable. I have given customer relations so much criticism over the past...
Every 20 minutes now - which is good, I have to concede. And when they're punctual then I have absolutely no complaints. After all it only takes me 6 minutes to whizz from Piccadilly to Stockport where I live. The fare structure is an absolute nightmare though, that is true.
I know, having...
TO be fair though, they are trying. I can't begrudge them that. This is a vast improvement on what has gone before only - say - a mere 18 months ago.
I also help out as a volunteer for Northern Rail (specifically the Hope Valley and High Peak Transport Partnership) whereby we try and promote...
BUT - and it is a BIG but - they are now doing the same old trick of putting all their eggs into one basket.
Why not share out the money to improving the regional conurbations that are all bursting at the seams with inadequate infrastructure left right and centre and are crying out...
Indeed.
Some of us older generation tend to be accused of having rose-tinted spectacles whenever we casually dismiss a lot of the modern railway business (note I used that word and not industry) as being inefficient and badly managed....well the facts surely speak for themselves when you...
I would get rid of them godawfully overdesigned and inadequate(ex-Virgin) Voyager trains and replace with the old HST sets which were FAR superior - subject to a little bit of reconditioning and refurbishment, of course.
That would be the very first thing I would do if I was the owner of XC...
I believe one day the TOCs will find a reason for you to pay them upfront a small deposit for use of the toilet roll next (along with an admission charge of 30p like they do in main line stations: hello Ryanair!!) - to avoid needless wastage of resources. You will forfeit the deposit, of...
I wonder if they [the auto announcers on SCNF] bang on about all manner of petty trivial 'elf 'n' safety' baloney as much as our UK train operators do though...... ;)
MY view is that all TOCs have a duty to keep costs down. This is the reason why, when they order new rolling stock, they tend to limit themselves to two, three and four car configurations at most. Virgin did this with the dreadfully inadequate and over-designed (and over-gimmicky) Voyagers and...
