This thread about to go into overdrive after that post!
I’ve not heard anything personally, all the current trainees out doing handling will be done in the first half of next year. That’s about 30 current trainees.
I believe the company is gonna start training for the IEPs come June/July so...
It’s usually advertised internally within TFL as a secondment then progressing on to a full time role is there’s space. Secondments are usually to cover maternity or other secondments. It’s very rare someone external will get the job even if it’s advertised.
When you’ve done your secondments...
Was driving 1A50 got held up in this. Luckily we didn’t pass the point of no return and signaller routed us onto the Hertford loop.
Still 80 odd mins late into the Cross.
I can relate, used to be a driver out of Peckham myself, Also worked in CentreComm for my last year at TFL.
Guess you become immune to it all after a certain number of years!
Night buses aren't that bad at all. You'll get 1 or 2 days where at certain time's you'll have a few people on there that have been out on the razz, even then they confine themselves to the back of the bus and fall asleep. You can get to Waterloo on a night bus in good time from every corner of...
I really wouldn't listen to all the hearsay. I can imagine it's difficult to sit there and have to wait for a start date but I'm sure it will come.
They are recruiting OTDM's (one has already started, one starts in January), DTM's and DI's. To me it show's all the signs they are committed to...
You do have to do extra physcometrics for Arriva so expect some additional testing if you apply.
In terms of amount of trainee's per course, I think its been between 8-12. My course was 8 of us, the latest group is 12.
I feel for your friend, I cannot thank my instructor enough for helping me with my rules. Rules can be a very confusing time where you can end up melding rules together and getting yourself in a complete mess. Without someone to help, guide and correct you it must be awful.
I'm only in my...
So there is minimal classroom for this DLP and you are expected to learn rules yourself? Wow! That sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
I appreciate there is a lot of self work you have to put in even when having classroom based material but total self learning just sounds daft!
Think I saw the new class doing their fire training out in the car park today. Saw a nice little fire with people squirting at it!
Wish you all the best with your rules! Always around to answer any questions I can!
I'm currently out doing my handling hours and find that route learning is quite easily gained by repetition for me, that's how I learn. There's also a few cheeky ways to remember a set of crossings with acronym's etc.
I'm with an intercity TOC so stations aren't too bad, just alot of crossings...
