I read an article sent to me by a colleague the other day, 25% of Mk4 sets taken out of service between June and Sept, the rest will start to be withdrawn between Jan and "summer" 2020.
All HST's to be withdrawn from October to December this year.
As I understand it had been on-going from the previous night, I was driving the 0630 KGX-Leeds and could clearly see him as I came out of Gasworks tunnel. I guess they risk assessed it and deemed he wasn't a threat for jumping or disrupting the ECML.
Media have got the wrong photo's then. This male was on the tunnel where HS1 goes over the ECML, Saw it with my own eyes leaving KGX this morning. Emergency services all down on the eastern bore they are currently working on.
No doubt some sort of YouTuber trying to make a name for him/herself. Seem's to be a big spike in this parkour rubbish recently.
It's not a nice situation but you play with fire you get burned. Wether it be graffiti or parkour, It's a tragic waste of life.
I think they have only secured 4-5 roads there (I'll have to look next time I go past..) But as you say they are for FFR trains. I was talking about the 4/5 trains that have been accepted, BG and FP are at full capacity on nights (Hitachi usually stick a FFR/Test train in both at night) So until...
4 have been officially accepted, 5th to be accepted next week.
Won't take long for them to end up in passenger service as there's no storage space in reality. Two roads for them at Bounds green and the odd space at Ferme park, Rest will need to be up and down the road.
It happens at my depot, you tend to have to sacrifice some rest days here and there to get what you want. I guess your other option would be to look at getting an accommodated link if you have a justifiable reason for it.
They are not going to be part of the December timetable, Its unlikely they will change the timetable mid run. So at a good guess would be May for passenger service.
In short, no.
As you mentioned, It will probably come off as looking desperate. And in all reality, It's not going to change anything, results are results.
Just sit tight, hopefully you've already done enough to impress. Best of luck!
Will throw in my two cents on the traveling.
Having been qualified for over a year now, I can promise you that you do not want to be commuting 3-5 hours.
Your training will be very intense both mentally and physically draining at times and once passed out your first 6-12 months are the...
Two of the roads in the sheds at Bounds have been getting upgrades to make them 800 friendly. There was an 800 there the other night testing one of the completed roads.
Just keep an eye out for trainee driver positions! apply and see how it goes.
I will however say that "enjoying" playing simulators does not translate that you will enjoy a career as a driver. Even if you did secure a cab ride, this again is not a true reflection of the job. You need to take...
