    Don't mess with 25kV

I have to agree that as a training tool, it is compulsory viewing to those in the industry. However we have to respect human life and so must be viewed as 'what will happen' and not as sick-humor ! Also think of those who have to clear up afterwards and family left behind without a wage earner.

    Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9

I have begun to twiddle with Sony Vegas but find it non-intuitive when trying to edit. Biggest negative is the format it uses when you save a project, these are typically .avi - .mp4 - .wmv - etc .....but these codec's are not exactly HiDef. I fail to see the point in editing a HiDef video to...

    Don't mess with 25kV

What sort of current do 750V DC trains tend to draw ? Depends on if they are starting, stopping or steady state. The electrical pick up shoe draws current from both directions (upstream & downstream) and because its DC it is simple Ohms law at work. I dont know the power rating of the...

    HD Camcorder

Hi there, I pondered this question last year and decided to finish with cameras containing motors and moving parts altogether. HDD are OK and certainly better than any tape format but you still have the disc to care for. Certainly its now wiser to opt for HiDef and so I went for SD format memory...

    Don't mess with 25kV

I worked 10 years as a 'HV R&D Technician' and was regularly testing with stuff up to 180kV so the basic physics are that electricity will flash-over about 1kV impulse peak per 18-16 mm in point-to-point configuration <worse case> and about 1kV impulse peak per 12-16 mm in plane-to-plane...

First Wensleydale Running Weekend (2009 Season)

Dont know exactly what happened to those carriages and 47 loco next to A1 at Dishforth / Sinderby. The carriages were taken one-by-one on low-loader ( I saw one heading A1 south 6 April ??) but the loco remained there until approx 12 May ??. They were Mk2's coaches I believe and probably full of...

Number 9 is very very good but number 7 gets my vote! The empty sky and the empty water make for a super backdrop, the buildings are in silhouette only but the loco is picked out perfectly. Excellent 10/10 !:p

    Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9

Has anyone used this software? Has anyone some simple starters to get me going on this software? The general word is that its very good for pro's..........but a lot for a novice like wot-I-is...!! I was lead to believe that is would be like MS Word with simple cut&paste actions to add / edit...

    New Canon Video Camera....comments?

Anyone have experience with Sony Vagas Movie Pro.....because I'm getting nowhere with it? I now try to keep it simple with no-edit where possible. Here is today's effort...? Its in HD so you should be able to view it in full screen mode for best effect. Its a steamer I'm afraid to say but the...

    new camera advice

Depends on what you want? Do you want a good compact or an average SLR? I use a CANON SX 100 compact, its fine with good 8 Meg resolution when its fully wound up. Takes small movies as well but just dont have too much zoom when in movie mode because the image size is reduced. Dead easy to use...

GV...stop sitting on the fence and be more committed. Number 4 ticks all the right boxes for focus, content, atmosphere and composition. Gets my vote, well done mate .....or lassie!
