iIt is interesting that they borrowed a Glider as it’s been reported that VDL the new owners of Van Hool will not be manufacturing anymore more of the bus range. The only option would be the Mercedes articulated Citaro.
Midlands seem to largely keep the X4 and X46 / X47 Gold allocated. However at Oxford - where several have been painted into local livery, it seems that anything goes with Gold buses appearing in city routes and ‘normal’ buses allocated to Gold routes. A lazy and stupid idea as surely they should...
I would think that ordering Solos rather than other smaller bus options is a positive move as it provides customers with a ‘big bus’ environment in marginal routes.
The Volvo situation coach wise is interesting as how many operators such as Parks of Hamilton will be happy to accept MCV as the...
I quite like the livery too, and looks so much better than the 2020 awful corporate livery which could have been used for electric buses as with Scotland operating companies.
The Gold spec Enviro400 Scanias built for the 13 seem to fail most days on the X46 / X47 that Northampton allocate them to so interesting - still with their brilliant but non compliant branding. Northampton depot love to give town services coach seated buses and put on inter urban services with...
ECW B51 Leyland Leopard operated by United Counties would fly along the A45 between Wellingborough and Northampton on the A45 in the early 90s on Coachlinks X94.
Maybe Alexander Dennis do want to dig a grave for the Plaxton range and see Scarborough as more of a bus Building plant. The Panther was launched in 1999 and although has had a few facelifts, other bodybuilders have launched several new replacement models since - the Elite has started to look...
United Counties ran many services to Beacon Bingo services around Northamptonshire in the mid 90s. This hall was slightly out of the town centre close to the rugby ground and was not a former cinema.
The ABC has managed to survive as https://www.theoldsavoy.co.uk/
Was this an ADL decision to cease their partnership with Scania or was this a result of Scania ending production of low floor chassis which I presume the Scania N250UD was. (The Scania K230UB single decker being a low entry)
I thought a few pages back in this thread that the DFT had agreed a full refurbishment on condition that they are kept with the East Midlands franchise until 2037?
Stagecoach UK Managing Director Carla Stockton-Jones is to leave her role at the end of August. As her career history was with Sky, I always thought it was an odd appointment.

i never understood renaming ‘Travel West Midlands’, ‘National Express West Midlands’ just as I never understood branding the East Coast main line or any of their other rail franchises ‘National Express’. It‘s a brilliant brand bit really only belongs on long distance coaches.
I seem to recall...
I suppose this expansion is one last roll of the dice until Flixbus come along with their check book. To my mind it always looked liked a good operation using double deck and under deck coaches under Stagecoach. But images I’ve seen of a mixed bag of single decker coaches in the last few months...
“There is also a trickle of ex - London vehicles, which though they may be mechanically 'hammered' & have centre doors etc, are all now Euro 6 compliant and provide a cheap solution for some operators i.e First have just acquired some for operations in Essex.”
Stagecoach have stated repeatedly...
Alexander Dennis have always said that they would prefer half an order (bodywork) than no order, hence the 100s of Scania / Enviro400 with Stagecoach. I thought at the time it was Covid that stopped ADL developing an MMC body for the B8RLE for Lothian. They certainly adapted the MMC for the...
I’ve used the Stagecoach Oxfordshire service S5 a few times between Bicester park and ride and Oxford city centre which has fast dual carriageway running and stop start city running. The Scania N230UD ADL Enviro400s give a much better ride quality, especially at speed compared to the complete...
A poor move by Stagecoach, though I think there was a case to rationalise the fleet which could have been a compromise. There seems an excessive amount of Routemasters, and the Eastern Counties Bristol FLF at Midlands - a former United Counties depot For example.
