I'm sure this is all old news. NR investigated the proposal of reinstating the line between Spalding and March a few years ago but the cost was formidable given the new alignments needed such as the line diverging at Deeping St Nicholas, south of Spalding before heading towards its previous...
Can anyone explain this oddity from today please. All the services ran according to RTT, all EMT empty coach stock moves with a train terminating/starting at Metheringham of all places.
5K98 Nottingham - Peterborough via Sleaford and Spalding...
Is there an election coming Councillor Porter?
There was also a report about the diversions on BBC Look North last night.
I cannot understand what all the fuss it about and I certainly don't expect either Lincoln or Spalding to be gridlocked.
There has been a noticeable increase in freight since the 15th December but not to the level where there isn't enough paths but you probably mean south of Peterborough.
Though you can do Werrington Junction to Lincoln Central running non-stop in 55 mins, Spalding and Sleaford will never get a...
Can anyone elaborate on the opening hours of this upgraded route. My understanding was that the route would be open Monday to Saturday, 6am to 10pm but looking at realtraintimes website for next year suggests freight traffic through the night...
Article celebrating the reopening of the avoiding line with video.

Freight starts to be diverted week commencing Monday 15th December.
I doubt very much that there is an appetite at EMT to improve the service on the Joint Line. I would imagine that local passenger services are heavily subsidised by government anyway.
Apologies to bring up an old topic but does anyone know what's wrong with the avoiding line at Sleaford.
I noticed from the 153 the other day that both lines have a 20mph TSR.
Anyone care to explain?
On a related note talking about the Joint Line, both Blotoft signal box and Gosberton with all the manned crossings between Spalding and Sleaford close this Friday I believe.
I'm with petersi on this, the reinstatement of the Spalding- March line is pure fantasy and won't ever happen. I live next to the Joint Line and can see the investment taking place and hope that new services come about from the route upgrade.
The linespeeds will increase once the final stage of resignalling is complete. Werrington Junction to Spalding closes after final train on Friday 24th October with Lincoln taking over control with the first trains on Monday 3rd November.
Thanks for the pics. Looks like down line is due to be replaced given the rails laying in the middle of the Up line.
Would just add this from NR website regarding Werrington Junction and shows both proposed flyover and dive under...
Back on topic, NR proposals at Werrington Junction seem rather interesting and raise a few questions.
Could NR insert another line on the ECML from New England between the Down Fast and Stamford Up Lines for a flyover/ tunnel.
How does NR connect a flyover/ tunnel to the Joint Line given...
Any reason why EC are/ have been conducting route learning on GN/GE Joint Line. I see that this appeared scheduled for tomorrow (13/05/2014) from Doncaster West Yard to Peterborough with a return.

As of end of service tomorrow (04/04/2014), Scopwick, Rowston, Blankney and Sleaford North will be closed as part of the upgrade.

I understand that there will be various closures of the route during November and over the festive period.
Recently in a local paper, NR gave notice that 3 level crossings in Spalding would be closed during Easter 2014 for 2 weeks.
And there is still trackwork taking place.
Hi to all,
Im after some updates on how the upgrade is progressing along the 86 mile route between Peterborough and Doncaster via Lincoln as the project should be completed by April 2014 or the end of CP4.
I have read in a rail magazine recently that the signalboxes on the...
