    Yellow ends

    As I understand it, all rolling stock using NR track must have a yellow warning panel, but that LU trains are exempt. Why are they exempt? Also, are yellow ends required for trains that operate exclusively on HS1 (eg Eurostar), which does not come under NR? If they do, then presumably ICEs...

    Class 458 refresh

    I see from the SWT "online chat" held last week that a refresh of the Class 458s will start in September. I believe the seat cushions (standard class only) and flooring will be replaced, but no idea what other changes there may be. I wonder if there will be a repaint.

    Now that Airtrack has stalled and is could very well be dead, I'm wondering if this will result in any changes to the Reading redevelopment. Currently, there would be a third platform for Waterloo/Airtrack services, with Gatwick services diverted to the other side of the station via the reopened...

    7 x Class 460 up for grabs???

    Hot on the heels of the 180 post.... It has previously been mentioned by a number of sources (and in the Sussex RUS) that the GatEX 460s are coming off lease in December this year when Southern have the full compliment of 442s. This appears all along to have been linked to Porterbrook's bid...
