    Heatwave what Heatwave ?

Not exactly comfortable from my office in an ex-display conservatory at work with one of S. Wales' leading chains of department stores. Edit: Met office showing as 22 degrees for the area at the moment

    Garden Planter. (GWR)

They are very nice, and have always bugged me that they seem to be missing a '1' at the start of the number. 1450 is one of the preserved members of the class.

SVR Taw Valley Steam Locomotive to be painted purple for Queens’ Jubilee

That'll be the loco that there was a competition to name then.

    Reuse of class numbers

Of course, same principle (98809 in TOPS)

    Reuse of class numbers

I know this may be slightly outside of the original question, which seems to be more whole classes, but 70013 Oliver Cromwell (Brittania class steam loco) & 70013 (Freighliner class 70 diesel) both currently exist, and were both operational on the mainline at the same time for a while. (Not...

Quick query - Severn Valley Railway

According to the locos in use, 1501 (steam) should have been hauling the 10:50 from Kidderminster 40106 operating the diesel turn (11:30 from Kidderminster) 7714 operating the north end (10:10 from Bridgnorth) I cannot see anything amiss with 1501 online (a little too far away to see properly)...

    1V18 1530 Manchester-Cardiff Sunday 22 Aug

I noticed that a few weeks back on a pair heading the other way on (what was technically) a west Wales - Manc. On time departure from Cardiff (I believe replacing a very late inbound from W. Wales), was already 30min late when we got off at Shrewsbury. Just longer stops, struggling, and what I...

A couple of questions about steam era water towers…

There is still one at Cardiff Central (formally General): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_Tower,_Cardiff_Central_Station#/media/File:Brown_and_beige_former_water_tower,_Cardiff_Central_railway_station_-_geograph.org.uk_-.3708303jpg.jpg

    Train Sim World 2

That route is called East Coastway, and I was under the impression this was the correct name give to the Brighton to Eastbourne & Seaham route. With regards to the rest of your comments, I mostly agree. It certainly is 'clunkier' than I remember it. I am slowly growing used to it though...

The Royal Scot Euston to Glasgow and Edinburgh billboard poster, 1927.

The loco depicted is LMS 6100 'Royal Scot', which I believed to have been built at Crewe in the Early 20s, the first of a class of 6P locomotives. I say believed, because having just double checked myself, she was in fact built 1927 (and by North British in Glasgow) The 10am services from...

    TS 2020

It is one of the reasons I tend to create scenarios that only have the lead loco unless a class 7 or 8, or very flat route (load 9ish) (Gazra13 on steam just in case anyone wants to link me to it. I will amend my signature on here at some point, but in work at the moment so cannot access steam)

    TS 2020

Sorry, I rushed to reply. I should have mentioned that bit as well. Bear in mind though when doing this, that will mean the diesel is dead in tow and therefore adding weight.

    TS 2020

Have you got a diesel or electric loco in the train (say at the back)? If you have it would need to be marked as not in use, as the cut-off on the HUD is for all locos in the train. Obviously a diesel cannot be at anything other than 100% Forward/Neutral/100% Backward

    Locomotive Services Fleet (LSL) updates

There was a Saphos Railtour from Bristol to Carmarthen and back yesterday with Britannia (running as 70022 Tornado) so it may have been to do with that. I wouldn't have thought so though, as there are a number of tours running out of there at the moment (English Riviera Express last Sunday...

Water supplies for preserved steam locos

Most of the mainline registered tender locos have filler points under the tender tanks. This helps as it makes it easier to attach hoses (obviously), but also that you do not have to put hoses into the top of the tender, which you definitely couldn't under OHLE anyway.
