Balls is it. That's for Ultrasonic workings. Track recording can go as fast as the stock/line/formation allows.
UTU's are 30mph test, 75mph transit, except for 3 which is 60mph (this may have changed, work has been ongoing)
Track recording trains are just limited by brake force/haulage. All...
Very common in the days of slammers. Train started to leave, someone sprints up and opens a door. "Ding" and the brake would dump. The guard would always stand in the door and observe until the entire train was clear of the platform.
Voyagers/Meridians have great windows, assuming you dodge the pillars. Mk.3's are nice, but the sill is a bit too high for my tastes. Pendolino windows seem worse than they because the train is so claustrophobic in the first place.
To circumvent restrictions on HST power cars, IIRC. Some OHLE wire wear measurement data has been requested and only the NMT's Development Vehicle has it fitted.
Some of the NMT HST trailers are going to be put between two barriers and loco hauled at some point on the GE - if it hasn't already, that is. The proposed date has escaped me.
I'm sure there are still a few what could be classed as mixed freight workings between Mossend and Warrington, aren't there? I'm sure I've seen 92's with mixed loads running up and down the WCML.
