    Class 377/5 Southeastern

SE applied for 319s going surplus. DfT rejected. SE then applied for 377s going surplus. Gibb report also recommended. Gibb report costed it at just £2 million for 20 trains. 8 months on - DfT silence.

Class 707 - SWT: Introduction into service

It very much would defeat the millions spent make SE Metro mostly 12 car but the DfT, and Grayling, don't seem to have a clue. They'll have new trains sitting around so send them over, even if they are a bad fit.

    London Bridge reconstruction works

And the service to the Greenwich line from that platform will be drastically worse than what existed before work begun!

Will Crossrail2 Be Built In The Next 40 Years?

To get anything Grayling has to go. Depends on chancellor too if the Tories win of course. Hammond has been very quiet. Reports of rift with May.

    The Dartford routes

I can see all skip stops going within 5 years. Growth is strong even former sleepier stations like Woolwich Dockyard and Deptford. Huge housing plans by them all too. Cutting a service at Plumstead means its not there to bring people back to Abbey Wood which will be needed with Crossrail.

    Southeastern to increase off-peak fares

And still no confirmation of those 25 extra trains at the end of the year. Cancelled? It comes after 319 transfer was not approved as little stabling space, so many sit in sidings. Constant short term extensions with little investment will do that. In 2012, then 2014 and again last year. And...

What was the New Cross track fire this morning all about?

    Future of Class 707

But its the same old problem as the 376s at Southeastern. 10 car trains on a railway 90% on the way to being fully 12 car after millions have been spent. It's a short term boost but not a solution for 10 years time, which isn't great for brand new trains and an area projected for mass population...

    Future of Class 707

Lots of mentions of sending them to SE. Bit stupid to send 10 car trains to a railway that has seen millions spent recently to become mostly 12 car ready. Unless they can be made 6 cars long then its a repeat of the 376 mistake. When these were ordered I wondered why the 30 odd 376s didn't go to...

Ohh speeding up deliveries? Good to see

    Class 319's into storage/withdrawals tracker

A shame none went to Southeastern if even for a year or two to alleviate overcrowding. I know the reasons given on the other thread, which is DfTs failings to plan going back up to a decade for more stabling places.

Freight train derailed at Lewisham 24/01

Any news on the fire cause - I havnt missed another thread have I? And how long is the train it out of action?

Freight train derailed at Lewisham 24/01

There were emergency point repairs in the area yesterday lunchtime which shut lines. Related to this?

Freight train derailed at Lewisham 24/01

And wasn't freight recently banned from the flyover Lewisham due to fears over safety. I know that's a different area. The flyover was a planned short term fix after a crash about 50 years ago but never replaced. The points at Lewisham broke a year or two back causing a week or longer of...

Great Western franchise to be broken up?

Can't split Southeastern he says as its upheavel. Then wants to split GWR. Local control only works if local authorities can raise funding and have power. They cant and won't be allowed to by Westminster. The sooner Grayling is out the better. His brief time as Justice Minister saw cut backs to...

    Electrostar GTR cascade

How many trains are maintainrd by each, and are they on very busy commuter routes? Genuine question as no idea. It seem unusual down here.

    Electrostar GTR cascade

It seems pretty unusual for a TOC to maintain another TOCs rolling stock - especially 31 units? It opens up some questions such as how easy it is for stock to access the other network and does this entanglement cause issues with reliability as stock moves from a neighbouring TOC depot. It seems...

    Wishlist for Upcoming Franchise Competitions

For Southeastern: Networker refurbishment to improve an interior which is tired. 2x2 seats for more standing space. To not decrease seats all peak time Metro routes to Vic need to be 8 cars, and most/all to Cannon St and Charing Cross being 12 car. SDO would be needed so fit it or get extra...

    Electrostar GTR cascade

The changed SE timetable is from mid.to late 2018 isn't it given they havnt consulted yet and the franchise changeover is now Dec 2018? And these trains start arriving before then so presumably boost services under the existing timetable?

Porterbrook Cl.769 'Flex' trains from 319s, initially for Northern

Southeastern could make use of a fair number. They are running many services below max lengths for routes in peak time.
