The closure of the Woodhead Route really did discredit British Rail and the Conservative government of the time. The route had been starved of investment for years and when the equipment became so degraded it had become dangerous the line was just closed. Quite shocking.

The railways of the West Midlands have been decimated over the last fifty years. The GWR Wolverhampton-Snow Hill-Paddington route was a superb piece of railway and perhaps the greatest loss. Snow Hill was a magnificent station. Dudley had a large station, now it has no railway at all...

HSTs are far better trains than ''voyagers' will ever be. Their engineering is incredible. Considering that the 125s were designed as a stop gap to cover until the electrification that BR never did, they are still working demanding diagrams and doing them reliably.

Always liked the old 304 units, lovely old things they were. 310 trains used to go well! Out of todays units the 350 takes some beating and the 323s are still so reliable even though they are knocking on a bit now.

Were the passengers consuming "beers and various spirits" causing you or any other passengers any problem? If they were then you had every right to report this to the guard. If however they were not causing any problem then by nature I do not see what the problem is?
