I am an engineer working in aviation. Aircraft systems very regularly need to be rebooted, including on aircraft we all fly on all the time. The important thing is that systems fail in a safe manner, and it is exactly the same for trains. Typically if a system needs a reboot it is because its...
I grew up very close by and worked for Claas for a short period. My late father worked there his whole life. The people at Combine World are very familiar with the bridge's height. Combines fit under, but only just. No chance when on a low loader.
This is the first time I've heard of a bridge...
The railway wasn't really an obstacle to the airfield and vice versa. The taxiway level crossing was only used to access the Airbus test facilities and previously some heavy maintenance facilities, not for general aircraft movements.
The space on the right hand side in the picture looks to be able to take any kind of bicycle including a tandem. I think I read about this being a requirement somewhere.
Coaches are not subject to the legislation until 2020 and no one in this thread (on either side) is disputing that - the discussion is whether the legislation currently applies for buses and will apply for coaches in 2020.
To be honest, going by the PSVAR regs, I think @kingqueen has the...
At every 7.5 mins is the 8 now the most frequent single route in Bristol? (I know there are many other routes with combined sections at a higher frequency, 75/76 etc)
Thanks for the responses guys - shame it isn't valid as it is a pretty obvious route! When the route via London is working as normal it's still only slightly slower, and as you say much simpler to go via Birmingham.
I will have to try my usual trick of getting off the 1932 CBG-LST train at...
Hi all,
Due to engineering works today (no trains Cambridge to Kings Cross), the fastest route from Ely to Bristol is via Birmingham on CrossCountry.
I hold a BRI-ELY Super off peak return (outward portion used), but can't work out if it's valid or not. I can get an itinerary on National Rail...
There are many metros around the world which already run in this way.
The Toulouse metro line A runs at intervals of <2mins, with 2 cars currently being extended to 4 as it is incredibly busy. There are no staff on the trains, the platforms, or often anywhere in the station. There are a mixture...
The only downside is that if you have android or Apple pay enabled, the machine detects your phone as a contactless card primarily and will not try to read the QR code of an mTicket. You don't get charged though. Hopefully they can iron this one out.
Had this issue today. Android pay did not pop up on the phone but the card reader detected 'something' and tried to read it instead of the QR code. Can confirm that switching off NFC works, not ideal though!
Doing the maths, it seems all-economy is closer to the mark than my "2-class". But all economy is possible with the same standards as current.
The top deck is split almost perfectly in half, into Y and J. The Y half has 120 seats. Swap the J cabin for Y and you gain 120 Y-class, giving 677 total.
It isn't any different to normal economy. The ~525 seat 'standard layout' is in a three class configuration.
650-700 seats sounds to me like maybe a two-class configuration with economy and premium economy.
It was MSN71 which is the second A350-1000 flight test aircraft. Just using Cardiff for fuel system testing (previously done in Filton before the runway closed).
