I got on a Class 700 at Farringdon last year and it had Walford East on the display (certainly in the back car, wasn't paying attention when it arrived in platform.

I have twice missed a train whilst actually being on the platform waiting for it because I was too busy reading. One of those times resulted in a further wait of 1 hour.

Possibly but then you have a long train journey instead!

I've only been at Brussels Zuid during daylight hours but I have to say that the station and its environs are among the worst. The whole of the eastern exterior reeks of piss and human excrement. It really is absolutely disgusting.

What would it cost I wonder, to re-double the whole route to Barnstaple to be able to run regular "express" services? I'd have thought that if you were to reopen routes to either Bideford or Ilfracombe you'd want to improve the timings to and from Exeter.

I see the 455 farewell tour sold out very quickly. Disappointed to miss out as I quite fancied it, seeing as I spent most of my boyhood riding them. I don't suppose with the considerable number of people in a similar position that we might get a second farewell tour? :D

The reason I've seen oft-cited that Sampford Courtenay does not receive calls is because of the tight turnaround times on the current Okehampton-Exeter services. I would hope in the future that this could change along with Yeoford calls as well. AFAIK there would need to be infrastructure...
