Sometimes managers forget that favours can work both ways. Myself and a colleague wanted to swap jobs, a manger caused a fuss simply because he could. I reminded him that he regularly called me asking to swap jobs or hours and I generally agreed but this could change if he wouldn’t help me out...
In the proposal it states that there will be weeks of spare shifts in the week that will have unlimited movement and also people on a spare week can be moved to cover a person’s week who is on AL or off sick. They will then take on the other persons rest days instead of their own. This isn’t a...
I’ve worked at 2 different TOC’s one as conductor and now as driver. At the first one the drivers were safeguarded but the conductor’s weren’t. At my existing one, nobody is safeguarded. We all have to use AL days but get them back if they fall on a rest day.
At my TOC you have to save AL days to cover Xmas & Boxing Day unless they fall on your normal rest days. If you don’t do this, you don’t get paid for them. Our TOC doesn’t run a service on either day.
What part of my post is ‘righteous indignation’? I just stated a fact that I’ve had several pay rises over the years, both from the railway and jobs before that, where I haven’t had to trade any terms and conditions. A few years ago we turned down a large pay rise that had lots of strings...
At mine it’s a 4 day week so you have Mon/Tues, then Wed/Thurs then Fri/Sat so 5 days off every 3 weeks. You might work a late Saturday then have Sunday off then on earlies from Monday for the next week.
Hi. I’m a female driver for a passenger TOC. Passed out in April. There were 4 women on my course. One of them was a single parent. I think the only issue you’ll have is if you can get childcare for the shifts. As said above don’t take much notice of the apprenticeship title. Good luck with it.
Well it’s not industrial action is it? It’s people having their days off which they’re entitled to and it’s on the roster as their day off. Why is it the staffs problem that Avanti rely on so many people to work their days off without the timetable collapsing?
It seems that people have decided they don’t want to. Probably as it’s the main holiday season and the weather is good and they have better things to do than go to work.
I never had a spare at home shift. Obviously they had to be introduced due to the reduced timetable and not being able to have lots of people sitting around in mess rooms. Depending on size of room, there was a limit for the amount of people allowed in. Not comparable to furlough at all so I...
