Protection racket culture.

Brilliant. No self reflection. The protection racket is always right.
Bully boy bothy culture. That’s all ASLEF want to maintain.
Late to this so apologies, but if this is such a safety issue, then maybe the station operator can provide signage to this effect so that people with bikes can be informed.
Equally the staff could actually approach you as someone who is quite understandably unaware of the potential issue, given...
No ScotRail service on New Years Day (obviously - it’s pretty much the same as Xmas day here in terms of shops or entertainment opening).
On 2nd January a Sunday equivalent service operates on most routes with weekday timings. First trains from Glasgow Central are around 0800/0900, first...
In the case of the Scottish stations mentioned (and possibly the Welsh stations too) these are principal stations on the lines of route and have the largest numbers of passengers joining or boarding, including with large luggage and/or requiring assistance. They also serve the largest...
I think the key people are the people who work in the railway sector. If it was so straight forward they might have begun doing so.
I think the last time you said all this it was pointed out that your comparisons weren’t like for like. Each time you came back and claimed the same thing, even...
Probably but the 385s probably provide over capacity on these routes.
Not quite sure of the spec of the new units as the proposed routes - Glasgow inner city and Fife/Borders don’t really strike me as requiring the same sort of unit.
Most likely to be five 23m car fixed formation units. The low level routes in Glasgow are build for 6 x 20m and would take a *lot* of reconstruction work to extend platforms. The need to use Queen Street platform 1 and Edinburgh platform 18 could be negated by diagramming.
The catalyst was a post along the lines of ‘why didn’t they do…..?’, implying that the people on the ground didn’t know what they were doing. Those people will have weighed up all the options and chosen the appropriate one, which is always the answer to such questions. I doesn’t stop them coming...
It’s one thing to express an opinion, but when people are completely dismissive of the actions of those involved, lacking any self awareness of how little they know about the full circumstances, that’s when it sticks in the craw.

Is it a unique railway thing where bystanders and people observing events are so convinced that they know better than the people involved? Happens a lot among railway...
Leaving aside silly comments about privileged subsidy, I don’t think the funding arrangements between the nations of the UK are going to be renegotiated over a fleet of trains.
Yes it is a pre-recorded announcement. But it’s the same announcement that gets used at all stations.
They could make other pre-recorded announcements, but they probably have better things to be getting on with. There’s nothing wrong with the announcements as is.
