    £36 per night for two people. What do they expect, 4* service? You get what you pay for, that's a cheap place. It's the hotel equivalent of people paying for a Ryanair(other cheap airlines are available) flight then complaining that they had to pay for their luggage too.

    Some of us commuters - not me now - brought this up with Southern management at one of their meet the managers evenings. He told us it was because the previous operators (Connex - even worse timekeeping than FGW) had ordered the trains as second class only.

    If you think that Southern trains have poor timekeeping - and often they have - you should try First Great Western's. I have a son in Penzance and a friend in Taunton. When visiting I've never known a train to run on time either travelling to or from.

    It's not the journey time, it's the waiting time. The 17.06 is due into Preston park at 18.05 so it would have arrived in Brighton at 18.09(ish). The next train back to Preston Park is the 18.37 due into Preston Park at 18.41. That's 36 minutes.

    Putting the county on an addressed envelope means nothing to the sorting office. it's the postcode that gets it there. Haywards Heath is in Sussex but has a Redhill (Surrey) postcode. Worksop is in Nottinghamshire but has a Sheffield (Yorkshire) postcode.

    I travelled to Byfleet and New Haw station to-day to visit some friends there. I was amazed at high low the platform is. It was a real stretch for me to both disembark and embark on to the train. Is there a historical reason why the platform there is so low?
