I regularly travel on the 0810 Euston to Bangor. Coach D is first class (and pretty full at least part of the way) on this train. Coming South I usually change at Chester onto the 1935 Euston train. I aim to sit in coach D which is now standard class (though with a few first class table mats...
So, because they can't contact everybody, they shouldn't contact anybody?
You're right that it wouldn't be feasible to contact those people, but is that a good reason not to make the (not very huge) effort to contact those they can contact easily?
It is a shame that TOCs don't email those with booked itineraries to warn them of the change. I recently nearly missed a Sunday evening train from Paddington to Bath because it had been brought forward from 2103 to 2100. It was advertised on the departure boards as 2100 then taken off the...
Trains seem to be starting at Castle Cary on April 25 (Easter Monday) - there is a bus from Taunton to Castle Cary. However there seem to be no Advance tickets available from Castle Cary to Paddington (except for one train in the late afternoon. Is it likely that the advance tickets haven't yet...
I am delighted that for most of February and March the 2057 ex-Paddington will stop at Castle Cary and intend to be on it most weeks. Sadly it doesn't continue into April.
I find it hard to believe that FGW have added this stop solely for my benefit (though I did ask them to!) - anyone know...
I was wondering if anyone knew if DfT and/or FGW had any plans in the pipeline for new timetables after the Reading remodelling (say from December 2011)? Clearly in the meantime the reduction in conflicting movements will have a beneficial effect on reliability, but will this lead to a recast of...
The party train used to run from Gare du Nord and was aimed at the UK market, with infalted prices to match. There is an overnight train to the Alps every (?) day in winter from Gare d'Austerlitz. 6 couchettes to a cabin. Not sure if they are direct to Briancon - might need to change in...
Perhaps Network Rail are suggesting that the "Was-going-to-Lincoln-but-now-only-as-far-as-the-small-market-town-of-Newark" paths could be diverted to Nottingham? These were to be diesel powered if going to Lincoln.
In a week in September (exact week to be determined) I want to leave London on a Sunday night (at 2100), get off at Bath, resume the next morning at Castle Cary and continue to Torquay. On the return journey I would like to leave on the Wednesday, break at Castle Cary overnight and continue to...
I find I can't open my laptop up as fully as I would like and this will be a consideration when I next change computers. This is particularly troublesome in the "entertainment" carriage and I have learnt to try to avoid coach D when reserving a seat.
Other than that, I don't particularly have...
Just a quick query. If I am travelling on the return portion of a Super off peak return London - Durham with YP railcard, can I break my journey at Hitchin (i.e. get off at Peterborough and change or even Stevenage and double back)?
I had a batch of advance tickets from Bath Spa to Waltham Cross which were similarly lacking the + symbol and failed to open the gates at Tottenham Hale. They always used to (both have symbol and work), and I note that my tickets for the next couple of weeks have the symbol. I wonder if it had...
