Posted in the charter thread as it seemed more relevant than the Rolling Stock one, but this has just flagged up on my social media. Appears to more of a owner selling up, than WCR looking to get around its situation with the ORR, and does not help the steam side of things of course, as with...
A friend connected with the ORR has asked the question and be told there is no such expiry date. As along as operators work with the laid down rules and legal aspects (CDL, CET etc) then there is no reason why Mk1s cannot continue in charter formations on the Main Line.
Path for tomorrow's early morning move to Tyseley

No, static testing was done at Crewe earlier this year, other than that (and electrical testing at UKRL Loughborough Works which was a road move each way) the loco has...
I may be wrong, but I don't believe there is a 'legal requirement' however, there is a contractual requirement which would have a legal ramification if not undertaken.
Does anyone know what is wrong with 88001? It appears to be in 'D' status at Gresty Bridge and hasn't moved for months, early November 2021 to be precise, although it did do a light engine 0Z14 Gresty Bridge-Carlisle Kingmoor on 14th April, returning the same day on 0Z06 (interesting allox GBNR...
Thanks guys,
Fascinating to read the memories as well as the info! Maybe it was something to do with Wednesday afternoons then? Could it be that with half-day closing in shops on a Wednesday, that the Works had a similar system? I seem to recall somebody once told me there was a half day...
Can anyone refresh my memory. I recall there was a time during the 1970s and 1980s I think when it was possible to visit BR works regularly.
I think Swindon was a Sunday morning (was it every week or just the first Sunday in the month?) and Eastleigh was a Wednesday lunchtime because the works...
Looks like it had problems, Railway Herald Railtours listings on their website are showing the 'Champion Torbay Express' now as 50007/50049 after 'D1015 had problems on its test run'. Such as shame for the DTG - lovely engine.
Yes all three days are shown on the Railway Herald website listings

Shown as LSL Diesel - its was LSL Class 37s when it ran earlier in the year.
Can anyone confirm which units Class 170/5s have been sub-leased from EMR back to WMT? I know 533 and 517 are as I have seen them in EMR purple, but WMT branding, I am assuming from the above comments there are others too?
There was a Royal Scotsman working from Edinburgh to Aviemore yesterday (25th May), which appears to have started from Keith this morning going to Kyle of Lochalsh. But I cannot find any path on RTT from Aviemore to Keith overnight .. can anyone enlighten me as to what's happened please?
Definitely not an April fool - Railway Herald carried it in early March I think it was. Being considered from the December 2021 timetable because that is when the whole ECML moves to Azuma timings, but the 91s will still be required but are too slow. The suggestion was two 91s powering could...
