I wonder if I travelled back to 1970s my mobile phone would work or would I conclude I didn’t actually have anything that needed plugging in so didn’t miss the sockets
As a kid I remember what you did when a six carriage (2x3) Southampton to Portsmouth Hampshire DMU didn’t fit on Swanwick station. You jumped out onto the track bed and walked up the ramp I may have gone off topic. I’ll get my coat.
Hi I used to live around Truro and St Austell many years ago. From what I can remember there is a foot crossing between you and Carlyon Bay. Around 0.5 miles away. It could be that which is the reason for you hearing the horns.

It’s just next to Fettling Lane and it appears to be...
That is right. I lived in Southampton for 18 years and worked at South Western House (Terminus hotel, which was the home of BBC Radio Solent) for 8 of those years. The line between Chapel Level Crossing down into Eastern Docks and Ocean Terminal was never electrified during that time. I believe...
Actually you are not quite right in saying the hotel allowed it to go out. That’s not the way these programmes worked. Editorial control is with the broadcaster and the programme is produced on that basis. The hotel owners complained bitterly about that sequence being shown but only after...
The story was first published by Minster FM on October 15th and although at that stage Northern had not provided a full statement they told me the main reason was shortage of trains to run the service. The York to Scarborough line appears perfectly capable of running two trains an hour as it...
I remember that one too. I used to live at Ashurst and did many a walk thru the forest by the tracks. I think there was another on the approach to Brockenhurst travelling west at the end of the long straight bit. Also I seem to remember one outside of Cosham too (on the eastbound line) Were...
Ploughman is right about the noise of track work. I've lived at various lineside locations in Cornwall (Grampound Rd) The New Forest (Ashurst) and York (Newton Sidings - 10 feet from a 125mph track) Never has the noise of trains been an issue (occasional vibration in hot or freezing weather...
We have had a couple of stories about this and also the fact that the Mk3s would not be running in July too. TPE wouldn't do an interview about it though

A film maker from York, Dave Thorp, has allowed Minster FM to share this amazing CGI with you. If you are a regular on the York to Selby cycle track you may not be aware it used to be...
Well he wouldn't be the first person to be rude and pompous on this forum so we will move swiftly on :D
As you said najaB it was to comply with forum rules and is actually written for a wider audience who don't know everything
Yes I saw those too which alerted me to the movement.
Jonathan Morley took some.
The seats did look very uncomfortable and attracted some comment on Minster FM social media. However I did wonder if they were not the final one, maybe extra cushions coming soon??
Here's some video footage and pictures from the wee small hours of this morning at York station of the Class 800 tests.

The train now arriving on Platform 10 is the future. It will bring a...
I think it could well happen. He was more positive than I thought he'd be when I asked about Malton and Scarborough. Of course in a year or two there will be 2 trains an hour along the line so would there be the capacity for any more ?
