Cambrian line 20 Oct 2017: loss of ERTMS speed restrictions. RAIB report released

This is just a string of words without meaning.

    Unacceptable whistleblowing at Blackfriars

[citation needed] While the cancellation will never be perfect, I don't see how noise-cancellation can work in any other way than actually destructively interfering with the noise, which will reduce the noise level experienced by the ear.

    Unacceptable whistleblowing at Blackfriars

I'd expect the whistle itself to be louder than the sound out of the speakers after it has been amplified (and clipped)...

    Jeremy Corbyn's Traingate

It was "dredged up" after so long because of how long it took Virgin to respond to an FOI request...

Low speed buffer collision at London Kings Cross 15/08/17

Because it's better for the people on the train if the front crumples, rather than the chassis taking a "fair whack"?

    Rail electrification scrapped / 'suspended'?

I don't quite understand how ever increasing renewable electricity generation somehow makes the decision to stop investment in electric trains less sad.

Not moving from clearly marked reserved seat when requested by reservation holder

Well, I can see how that would be "better" for you, but I'm not sure why that would be objectively better overall?

23:38 Liverpool to Manchester: journey from hell?

How do you "patrol" a crush-loaded train?

Ex SWT member of staff jailed for producing counterfeit rail tickets

That's a ridiculous argument. It would lead to ever-longer sentences without bound for every crime.

Hi, my name is carriage number 55571...

So, you: 1. Took picture of the sign telling you to visit https://northernrailway.co.uk/comments to report a problem with the train. 2. Took a picture of a problem with the train. 3. Went online to a forum and uploaded the pictures and moaned about the problem. 4. Did not bother to...

Cross Country HST power car in trouble.

If there's any suggestion that the faulty power car could catch fire again, I'd hope they'd leave it behind!

Um, what about reducing the workload of the signaller? This ORR guidance advises:

the implications of filming something from a passengers prospective.

I'm not sure how creating a verbatim record of an interaction could be described in the terms above. Certainly, something sounds ludicrous here, but perhaps not what you think.

That'll be targeted advertising based on your recent internet activity....

National Rail Enquiries (NRE) telephone number changes from 0845 to 0345

That's part of the same changes introduced by Ofcom -- more relevant is the change to the cost of calling 0845 numbers.

National Rail Enquiries (NRE) telephone number changes from 0845 to 0345

So they'll call from a mobile? Or call from a landline with inclusive minutes? I hadn't actually realised how *cheap* out-of-bundle 0845 was in the specific case of BT landlines (a combination of regulation by Ofcom and historical accident), but for the vast majority this is a positive change...

National Rail Enquiries (NRE) telephone number changes from 0845 to 0345

The cost of calling the 0845 number, you mean? What I called great (as was obvious from the context you removed) was NRE switching to an 03 number.
