Although of course many people going to and from work, particularly the London crowd using SWR, would much rather be able to do work-related things using decent wifi, than watch a repetetive selection of semi-recent films and random stuff from the telly.
Is the TOC not obliged to ensure that you get home, having cancelled a service for a replacement bus which won't make a scheduled connection? Or is this an advertised ammendment?
Don't confuse 'SWR' with 'SWT'!
The former is thus far still very much running to the excellent template set by the latter, events so far suggest that isn't necessarily going to continue long term.
Why do you feel that nobody 'in their right mind' would have been intimidated by 90% of the people in their carriage singing football songs? You asked the other 10% who had no interest in the football and who were just minding their own business what they thought, I presume?
Interesting passenger aspect to this, too. Is a passenger potentially committing an offence (or the bus equivalent, whatever that may be) by accepting a journey without payment? In a railway scenario, a Guard or other employee granting them authorisation to travel would cover them, as per the...
Again, there we have it. There seems to be a difficulty from those who travel with groups of supporters in understanding that others do feel threatened and intimidated by the behaviour of some fans, whether that behaviour is intended to intimidate or not. People associate loud, chanting, alcohol...
Hate is rather strong! However, there will always be a healthy dose of rather non-charitable opinion towards fans from many frontline rail staff, as it is they who have to deal with some of the worst of them, and 'football culture', on a regular basis. Whilst better behaved fans on here will...
Except for the huge amount of crew training and moutain of paperwork that would be required. A move from power door to slam door stock would be a massive administration task. Not a simple option at all, in real terms.
A fair point! In mitigation we should perhaps mention that as the engine parts were collected from the floor they were found to have benefited from being very well lubricated indeed by the diesel from the rest of the train :D
Interesting. Sadly, the reality of course is that it always too hot for somebody, and it is always too cold for somebody else sitting behind them. There is no ideal in a train carriage with more than one person sat in it!
