    Locomotive Services Fleet (LSL) updates

I very much doubt Mr Hosking is directly involved at all.

'Via ...' tickets and additional permitted routes

The shortest route from Portsmouth (Havant) to Edenbridge is actually via Guildford although Ford is a permitted route.

Southern, Thameslink & Great Northern 'Not On Strike' Details

Theres a National Express service 230 that runs from Leicester to Luton Airport roughly every 2 hours which still has seats available at the moment (and buses either end) if that helps.

Belfast to Glasgow Stena sail rail: Local bus connection to Belfast Port.

When I did Birkenhead to Belfast back in September the ferry missed the bus completely and there was surprisingly only 2 taxis available for about 200 people so most ended up walking the 2 miles along the dualcarriageway to the Shore Road. Not much fun being soaked by HGVs in the rain. I enjoyed...

LNER proposal to withdraw Stirling and Glasgow Central direct services: what do you think should happen?

OK, but given that Inverness is c 170 miles from Edinburgh surely the additional costs of maintaining route knowledge for how many crew? support costs for 1 return train a day plus the leasing cost of running a high speed bi mode unit around Northern Scotland must make for a basket case even if...

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

As has also been previously mentioned those have tended to be DMUs which have a completely different electrical supply or coaches that were supplied or modified in BR days as either ETH or DualHeat. The crashworthyness is inherent to the original design of the coaches it can be mitigated to an...

Container shipping diversions via Cape of Good Hope

Im afraid I dont think you have an understanding of the distances involved in the middle east, I remember having to tell a prominent politician that Dubai was 1700 nautical miles from the Bab-el-Mandeb straits by sea about a week in a patrol craft when he clearly thought we could pop over after...

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

I dont think that its technically very difficult to fit cdl to the mk1 stock, the issue is getting the safety approval for acceptance on the mainline. This is tied in with the financial cost given that the Mk1s are also operating on a derogation on crash worthyness. Personally I think that most...

LNER proposal to withdraw Stirling and Glasgow Central direct services: what do you think should happen?

On the same basis, does the case for the Inverness service stand up. Given the costs associated with running a one a day service I cant see that it can be anything other than a political guesture?

    Minimum connection times

For this year's football season my return trip from Fratton to Appledore is a 4 minute connection across Brighton Station from platform 2 to platform 8. If I don't make it I get a 60 minute delay repay. In traditional Southern style it has involved a lot of whistling at the tardy passengers...

Charing Cross-Tunbridge Wells terminators (millennium period)

Not really Orpington doesnt provide any connections that Kent hasnt already got through Sevenoaks on stopping services or Thameslink or on direct services to london Victoria. Its easier and quicker to get to Lewisham via London Bridge because of the higher frequency of services there. Orpington...

WCRC loses judicial review in High Court

I dont think that its Vac Only thats the sticking point. Its Vac and steam heat only thats the problem because the electrical systems and batteries you get on those coaches are so weak.

The VT Mk2s are plain Mk2s sometimes referred to as Mk2z now I believe. Some Mk2 (z)s have already been converted to disc braked air stock for Glasgow push pull services. Mk2a to f were built as new with air clasp brakes.
