I passed the first lot of the new tests with them,only to wait ages to be told there's a hold on external recruitment for trainee drivers. Let's hope they bear me in mind if they start recruiting again and don't have to start from square one.

Got my confirmation through aswell, passed stage one of the new assessments last November,does anybody know if DBS make you take them all again or just the parts you have not yet taken?

Living close to Birmingham London midland and maybe Chiltern are the only 2 viable company`s for me really, can live in hope they start recruiting externally sometime in the future.

Already have a application in for birmingham and passed stage one,its the 30min rule that isn't very clear,i work in Worcester at the moment,somedays can easily get there in 30 mins,other days can take an hour depending on traffic. Where as new street is just a 10 min train journey away :-)

Its the way some people are,they could work in a job doing 7 days a week to earn 40k. They could then get a job 47k Monday to Friday and still work the weekends,its as if they not happy unless they are living beyond their means and need to work all hours god sends to keep ahead of the bills.

Im also waiting for the stage 2 interview dates to come out,maybe they get all the stage one testing done out the way first?

I got told I passed stage one,next is the manager interview,any way of finding out your scores or are you just told you have a pass?

I took the whole lot,birth certificate,drivers license etc,all I had to do was write down my NI number on one of the forms,didnt have to show anybody anything,like you say though best to be prepared!

Took stage one today,think it all went well,found the bourdon easier to do on paper as eyes did not strain so much,the bourdon is the only thing im not 100% as you never know if you missed any until you get the results.

Ive got some in a few weeks time at Birmingham,your email should of told what tests you will be taking.

Neither job is guaranteed so hopefully can get time off for the assessment and the interview,seeing how long the recruitment process can take its best to keep all options open,knowing my luck wont get either but its good to at least be given the chance :-)

Had the email to book my assesments today goto wait for my work to confirm what days I can have off now and book myself in :-) Five mins after getting this long awaited email I got a phone call for another job interview next month,now the dilemma is if I get this other job,will earn 35k...

Not heard anything since the last email,but it did say the assesments would be held over the next 12 months so could be a short or a long wait! The longer you have to wait then maybe some info will out about the new tests.

What if 2 toc`s operate on the same routesuch as Wolverhampton to Birmingham,london midland and virgin both do the same one,if you worked for London midland do you only get free travel on their trains?

If the give the job to an internal,they would then have to train them,plus recruit and train a replacement for them,if they recruit an external they would have to only train them,so there are advantages of recruiting externally :-)

Do they send for references from your present employer before they make you an offer?? I imagine that could cause a few problems for some if their employer had a request for a reference and then you didn't get offered the job.

What sort of ID do they ask you to bring to an assessment?? My passport is out of date and birth certificate is not whats classed as the "full" one.....all I really have is drivers license
