Have you ever used a rail replacement taxi?

I've used a rail replacement taxi once - to get from Lincoln to Fiskerton. There was some sort of signalling problem which meant very little service in/out of Lincoln, so a fleet of rail replacement buses was lined up outside the station. I was directed on to one that would get me to Newark...

    Bachmann XC Voyager 4-car

I picked the same model up a few months ago for a bargain price at Ian Allen in Manchester :) It's currently in bits, mid-way through DCC conversion, fitment of Express models head/tail lights and cabin lights. There should be a small clear plastic bag taped to the bottom of one of the clear...

IF Virgin Win the franchise? (Livery?)

All of the newly delivered additional Pendolino carriages have a slightly different livery - the grey ">><< ... >><< ... " pattern is missing along the lower part of the bodysides. The newly delivered Pendolino driving cars also have the new Virgin typeface applied to them - the font is slightly...

    350/1

Just posting to follow up on my 350 problems. Bachmann advised me to return it to the retailer, Ian Allan at Manchester Piccadilly. They swapped it without quibble, and the replacement 350 has no faults. Big thumbs up to Ian Allan in Manchester for great customer service :D

Arriva Trains Merseyside - turquoise livery?

The cream swoosh at the front appears to be different on each side of the unit. On the side closest to the camera, the swoosh terminates firmly in the turquoise area, but on the other side, it seems to wrap around to the front of the unit, seperating the yellow and turquoise.

    350/1

I've just got the LM 350/2 as well. Fantastic model, but on my example both the red and white lights are illuminated at each end regardless of direction of travel. This is the case both when running in as-supplied DC (analogue) mode, and also after DCC conversion. Has anybody else experienced this?

    Northern 323 refresh

Yep, it is true about the manual destination blinds. I was surprised to see them in place of the scrolling electronic displays. I've noticed that several of the Northern 323s suffer with faulty electronic displays at the cab ends, and only part of the fleet has working electronic displays on the...

    Northern 323 refresh

Over this weekend I've travelled twice on Northern's 323234 and I've noticed that it has had a bit of a refresh. Inside, new moquette on the seats replacing the faded old First North Western? moquette. All of the interior lighting has been changed to a whiter shade of white, and the floors look...

Trains missing stations to make up time?

I was waiting for the 15:03 Aston - Redditch London Midland service today. It arrived 14 mins late at Aston. When it reached New Street, they announced the train would terminate at Barnt Green due to it running late, and that we would have to wait a further 15 mins at Barnt Green for the next...

Coronation Street Tram Crash, Tram powered with No Electric ?

I like the way the "driver" does not get thrown around the cab at all, instead he remains sat straight and true in his seat, pefectly normal to the floor! And the dinosaur style roar that "Tramzilla" gives off as it rears up and then comes swinging down on the Kabin (00:26 in the video) makes me...
