    RST online + Disabled railcard

The internal version of national rail makes it explicitly clear that this would not be permitted. As @AlterEgo says the public T+Cs are less clear.

Northern Advance Purchase tickets update from Monday 4 November (purchase up to 15 minutes prior to departure rather than 5)

People who want to pay by cash. More common than this forum would think, at least in my area of the country.

mature students railcard - proof required ?

A correctly issued mature student 16-25 railcard will indeed have "Mature Student" or as the internal knowledgebase now specifies simply "Student" in the date of birth field.

    Northern Ticket Blocks

Minimum connection time at York is 8 minutes, so if the connection was timetabled as 7 minutes it wouldn't be an official connection eligible for delay repay.

    Euston overcrowding

It depends, couple of weeks ago I caught the train back up to Lancaster and it's one that granted has a 30 minute turnaround but they called it 15 minutes before departure and it was more civilised than previously.

    Rovers at privilege rate

I use it now for the £4 accompanied child fare now that PRD has been set up properly for that purpose in STAR. (Previously it worked the same as PRV for child discounts so we were frequently unable to correctly issue the flat fare)

Can you still buy paper Season tickets from Doncaster?

All Northern ticket offices should be issuing to smartcard only as well.

Forgetting RST leisure card and purchasing at full fare

Can't speak to that as I was still in school/uni. I started in ticket offices in 2008 and the forgotten railcard policy was introduced 28th February 2017.

    Northern TVM hiding cheapest fare?

Yes, I used "Quick Buy". So first test was about 0843 and it showed peak fares both via Wigan and Any Permitted. Just tried again now 1048 and I got the same results as you and the OP, it would only show the Any Permitted. So some sort of bug that only occurs in the off peak maybe?

    Northern TVM hiding cheapest fare?

An interesting one. Did a test on the TVMs at my station and Manchester Victoria to Headbolt Lane returned the via Wigan fares. Had thought it might be one where putting in Manchester Stations to Headbolt Lane might be answer but conversely that didn't bring up the via Wigan fares.

    Cheapest available Advance tickets?

Any ticket less than £10 would not be worth amending (unless it's a retailer that waives the fee).

    RMT Talks

No, the link you offer refers to Network Rail staff. Scrapy was talking about the deal for TOC staff which was only for 22/23 (5% or £1750) and an agreement to talk about 23/24 and reforms on a TOC by TOC basis.

    Seat reservation mystery

Another one that seems quite common on CrossCountry and TPE in particular is that it likes to give you 2 aisle seats across the aisle from each other rather than a window/aisle pair even when putting in no preferences. Being in a ticket office you can keep booking and sometimes on 2nd or 3rd go...

    Ticket acceptance during disruption

In any disruption, but certainly major disruption always a good idea to check the relevant journeycheck.com page. This gives the public facing version of internal messages. Looking at /northern on Friday would have told you Northern had ticket acceptance with TPE, Avanti, EMR, CrossCountry, and...

Northern issue DO NOT TRAVEL message (23/08)

It actually would be helpful to both customers and customer facing staff. Yesterday the only info we had was "multiple trees on multiple lines" and a not necessarily complete list of impacted lines (some actually had trains running and others not mentioned didn't). A handy map with either...

Why is it so hard to buy an excess?

Even if they can't work out the UTN (my TIS doesn't allow alphanumeric entry for example) then just use 00000 (or for my TIS that doesn't allow that either 00001). Mentioned at the start of the iKB Excess Fares at Ticket Office procedure.

    Curious arrangement at Lancaster today

Yes for the 0911 shuttle arrival platform 5 is occupied between 0852 and 0941 with 5Y58/2Y58. You haven't mentioned the 1006 arrival but platform 5 is occupied between 0945 and 1014 by 5C51/2C51. Also needs to be freed up by 1033 for 1Y80. 1205 I can't see an obvious conflict. 1411 no conflict...

Station - rail usage over time

Yes, usage figures run April to March, so in terms of 19-20 only March was impacted by Covid. So presuming "2020" equates to 19-20 then that would explain why "2020" represents a peak for many.

Refused boarding by Elizabeth Line with London Terminals ticket at Liverpool Street

Yes, this is also what Fujitsu Journey Planner in a ticket office tells me I should sell.

    Northern Promise to Pay wording

The good news is that Bob has always been a cautious member of the sect so he stops and reads the penalty fare notice at the entrance of Sellafield which tells him he must obtain a promise to pay if he is unable to purchase a ticket before boarding.
