    I don't understand restriction code 2T

It also allows the TOC to turn around and start restricting a previously unrestricted Off-Peak fare. As Virgin have done on Milton Keynes cluster - North Wales, and to Scotland. And CrossCountry have done with the Via Gloucester routed fares to Bristol and the West Country.

    FOR vs SOR fare

FOR should not be sold on Swindon - South Wales except as a PRIV. As all those flows have an FSR on 8A or 8H restriction (completely unrestricted on time, although 8H forbids break of journey on the outward).

    Litter on trains

Milton Keynes Central used to have station-based train cleaners, who would do litter pick on the terminating/starting trains in platform 2. Then London Midland got rid of them three years ago, and the inevitable results are disgusting to behold. :-x

East Coast North/Scottish peak fare hike/simplification

In the case of the walk-ups. It's basically cutting out money on the SOR that wasn't being made. Which is sadly the reason why the same process probably won't be applied to flows from/via KGX. :(

    London Midland Super Off-Peak returns

This change only affects the Trent Valley and up to Liverpool. West Midlands area will still be unrestricted on Saturdays. In the case of MKC - Nuneaton and MKC - Atherstone, we'll just be selling Any Permitted SVS/SVR for most of the day as it will be the cheapest option.

    Valid ferry ticket?

Generally these days, if there's an add-on available, you can get it as a separate fare. Partly so you're not restricted on your choice of rail fare. But also it helps avoid the pitfalls of "making up" the ticket using Manual Fare. I've found this out the hard way: As none of the stations...

East Coast North/Scottish peak fare hike/simplification

Decided to go back and look for what should be the most extreme drop. Biggleswade cluster (Biggleswade, Arlesey, Sandy) to the Far North and Kyl lines cluster. Current SOR - £324.00 New SOR - £187.00 :o

East Coast North/Scottish peak fare hike/simplification

I've done some checking on the upcoming Manual. Seems to be across the board on the "ECML north of Stevenage" pricing structure. The SVR has gone down to SSR price and restriction, thus eliminating Super Off-Peak. While the SOR has gone down to a level a little above the old SVR price. It's...

why do singles cost the same as returns

East Coast made some positive ground in the form of abolishing the Weekender by lowering the SVR price to match it. But they ought to go the whole hog and do the same with Super Off-Peak. What Virgin should do is unlock the SVH and make it available across the board as a regular single. Not...

    London to Calais fares?

The Tribute instructions were added as previously, the control tickets were missing from the Supplements box. I chased up with Southeastern and they got it fixed. I checked the London Terminals fare yesterday on my Tribute. The route is now "P&O NOT HS". so it looks like the party is over.

Wny do EMT not offer a Day Return for this journey?

I think a whole book could be written listing the flows which should reasonably have SD and CD but don't

    London Midland Closures Commence

In the so-called minds of LM management, us here on the Northampton Line are just a far-away branch line, we don't matter.

    Innaccuracies on maps/information boards.

LM's remaining 321's may have had a repaint, but no-one has bothered to replace the London Connections maps inside dating from 2001, just stickered over the Silverlink logo. Most of the TOCs on it haven't existed for a long time.

    Experience at Liverpool/Sheffield booking offices

Speaking from experience, there are too many people in booking offices who look at it as just a job and don't really care. The info just goes from screen to eyes to mouth without any processing up top. And now with London Midland, things are going to go from bad to worse, as there is an...

    Eurostar/European Style Tickets

Nice. We here aren't even using Tribute 11 to it's fullest as our TOC still hasn't either installed the barcode scanners or activated the auto-warrant system (I'd gladly put up with a little extra manual entry if it meant warrants and vouchers were accounted for in the balance). And also we're...

    Blue Ticket Stock

Blue is the main period season stock. Any of the old grey point-to-point or white Travelcard stock still around is basically a case of using up existing stocks. Problem with it is that where the ticket is an annual that isn't eligible for a Gold Card, SWECOIN printers still expect pre-printed...

    London Midland Cancellations Retribution

I'm hoping they just mean regular old void days.

Patrick McLoughlin on Sunday Politics today

How about bringing the SOR and FOR down to a third, or better still a quarter of the weekly season, in the same way that SDR/FDR is. Using current season rates, it would still be pricey, but at least would be dragged out of the triple digit mark

Ignorance of Sail Rail to Ireland in booking offices?

No London Midland booking office can claim ignorance, as I wrote up a guide for booking all the current RailSail and emailed it to all of them. As a matter of fact, at my station it's gotten too easy. To the point that people are booking Standbys with only 20 minutes to spare before the...

    Dutch Flyer

About that. I can't get any clarity about whether non-GA stations are allowed to sell it. The advertising just says GA stations or online, but then rail advertising is like that. I've made several enquiries to GA on the matter but recieved no reply
