How successful could multiple unit railtours be with the correct itinerary?

Has the Hastings unit only got one compliant cab? When it came to visit us they turned it in Colchester Town on the East Gate triangle I assume it was allowed to run to Clacton with the back cab leading as it is a low speed line

Will HS2 actually be an interesting journey from a passenger perspective?

I like to go to the South of France for holidays. I gave up flying several years ago when I discovered the pleasure of the TGV I love the experience of an upstairs seat rushing through northern France looking at the little villages and the farms, I never read or play with the phone just look out...

6233 Duchess of Sutherland OHLE arc incident?

When they were doing the runs out of Marylebone. a steamer clipped a chunk out of one of the bridges because tamping raised the line so no one knew about the reduced clearance. There must have been only inches of clearance, as tamping would not make that much difference,, or would it?

Greater Anglia Bombardier Aventras (Class 720): Technical discussion and introduction

I know it was all about max number of seats but the profile of the 720s makes the aisle unacceptably narrow, should have been 2+2 seats I have only been on them off peak, if peak numbers mean all seats in use I would imagine getting along the train to go to the toilet would be elbows-V-hips

Could a train deploy an emergency dragging anchor of some sort, or a dragging wheel on the ballast?

Dont tell anyone, I have just invented a cure. a pressure operated flat brake block mounted behind the front wheel. as soon as any slippage occurs the block is forced onto the rail under pressure to scrape the rail with friction heat, so the rest of the train wheels brake normally Please send...

Steam heat coaches - How does it work?

How do steam heat systems work? Not as stupid as it sounds! I know there two pipes brake and steam heat and that it runs through the coaches on the way via radiators under the seats. Where does the steam go? I spend hours watching the Bluebell cam and there is no steam exhaust from the last...

Taking a company to the small claims court

I am a retired Jobbing lawyer. I got a disputed private parking ticket, almost 2 yrs later they will not take it to court, they maintain empty threats bailiff cumming round etc. I have a viable counter claim for time spent sorting out the basis of their claim " I did not park there " If they...

Energy bills to rise - how much is yours going up by?

Seems to me the way forward was not privatization. which as the man with the beard said privatizes the profits and nationalities the losses, one of the experts interviewed said each customer from a failed utility company will cost the new provider £400 and that cost will fall on all or us to...

Passengers denied boarding at Blackpool North?

This place has been an issue for years. The operator should get undercover managers to hang around to see what goes on, then report back to bosses to get it sorted Will GB rail be able to enforce good practice from the contractors?

Trespass Incidents - Has procedure changed so now the railway is closed rather than trains cautioned? ?

I feel guilty, I caused a scare, Trainspotting at an unstaffed station. walked up to the far end of the platform I at no time passed the sign at the end . Fast train came past at walking space I thought thats a bit odd, I looked for the restriction signs for engineering work, none Next train...
