New Forfar line through Strathmore: would it work?

About 4 years ago NR estimated the reinstatement of Stanley Jct -,Kinnaber route at £750 million!!!

    White Hart Lane/Tottenham North

http://www.haringey.gov.uk/sites/haringeygovuk/files/haringey_planning_recruitment.pdf The drawing is rough but seems to reflect the current thinking- ie moving the station building further south.

    White Hart Lane/Tottenham North

A somewhat sketchy image of the intended new station has appeared on Haringey's Planning Recruitment page. Sorry, I made a complete hash of trying to upload it but it's relatively easy to find! The original intention was to design it similarly to the new Deptford station, but if this image is...

    Scottish Electrification updates & discussion

Americans think McLean is spelt MacLaine. We can ignore them!

    Borders Railway - Now Open

I really do think we should give up this extension to Carlisle business. 'If' the authorities are serious about allowing large-scale housebuilding on the route then Hawick - and electrification- should be approved asap. Maybe look at Carlisle again in 30 years' time?

    White Hart Lane/Tottenham North

450.emu Sorry it's a bit late at night but I don't see the relationship of your "where's all the money coming from" to the rest of your post. Please elucidate.

    White Hart Lane/Tottenham North

Haringey's master plan, drawn up by Arup, is for 3600 homes on the Love Lane estate. adjacent to WHL. The station project has gone very quiet the past 18 months but funnily enough I heard just last week that the first demolitions will begin this year of the old British Queen pub and the garages...

    Lea Bridge station

Northumberland Park only has one train to Stratford each hour. The Angel Road service is hopeless. I'm sure the project is for three-tracking Coppermil Junction- Angel Road for 4tph, with passive provision for a fourth track.

    Lea Bridge station

Mr jrt "The first stage is to lay a 3rd track from Coppermill Junction to Angel Road to offer a 2tph shuttle as you can't fit more local services into the current timetable without impacting the mainline services. This is StAR" All the literature I've read states that the third track is for...

    Scottish force to police railways

"Hopefully backing him will also help bring about the downfall of Ms Sturgeon as well but that's not for here" Genius: make a party-political comment and then sort of apologise.

Crossrail 2 VS Chelsea - Hackney Line

It's going to New Southgate so would make an interesting turn for Muswell Hill/ Highgate!

How will driverless cars impact rural rail, bus and taxis?

http://www.technologyreview.com/featuredstory/520431/driverless-cars-are-further-away-than-you-think Try this for balance to the hype from Mountain View. Note the frank admission from the Mercedes representative that it may have not avoided pranging the Smart car.

How will driverless cars impact rural rail, bus and taxis?

Google's cars do a 2000 mile circuit over and over again. Not when there's rain and not when there's snow. They have next to no experience of 'real world' conditions. Proper car manufacturers are not buying Google technology and, in fact are making much more modest claims for their own...

Options for further rail reopenings in the Scottish Borders

I'm not convinced we should be encouraging people to leave the city by opening rural lines. People living in the countryside are subsidised by city dwellers as 'old man' -perhaps inadvertently- reminds us. I suggest it would be better to intensify housing in Edinburgh, electrification of the...

Options for further rail reopenings in the Scottish Borders

Alnabreacht I agree with your overall points but not sure if you should be including Falkirk district in the 60-90 minutes Edinburgh commute. More like 25-35 minutes.

    George Osborne's Autumn Statement

It's unlikely to be mentioned but I think Crossrail 2 is almost a certainty now. Look for that before the general election. Not that northerners will be happy with that!

    White Hart Lane station improvements

I certainly didn't know the project was starting next month. I assumed the works were being held up by the dispute between Spurs and the engineering company. So, good news. But just as a record of information who is footing the bill for this part of North Tottenham regeneration? Is it NR...

    Train liveries - any faves?

Southern's greens are very relaxing IMO. Some of SW trains look as the colours have mixed by a five year old.
