Working at Finsbury Park and having a meeting near Blackfriars should have been a decent journey with the new timetable. However, as far as I could make out there were no trains southbound in 1300 hour and no trains back in the 1600 hour. Tube to KX it was!

Woke up this morning at 0530 and checked app to see 0704 and 0720 shown as running Hitchin to London. Check again at 0630 and both cancelled. Gap from Hitchin to London now 0653 to 0741 where there used to be 0701, 0709, 0718, 0725, 0732 and 0736!

I have emailed DfT to get their thoughts on the matter.

Very interesting comments all round. Thank you. I went to Hitchin ticket office to ask about the procedure to swap back and I was told the Key Card was changing to one that looked more like an Oyster card and this new one should be accepted on the VTEC services. I will await news on this.

I was perusing the new look Great Northern website when I saw something saying that Key Card season tickets are not valid on VTEC between Kings Cross and Stevenage. Does this mean advancing technology has actually led to a reduction in trains I can use between KX and SVG?
