Bidston Wrexham ORR Judgement on TfW / GBRF

Agree with this! is has been static in timetable terms for decades, the timetable improvements will also make connections at Shotton considerably better opening up both Chester and North Wales to West Wirral as well as at Wrexham for Shrewsbury and points south and west. I do also hope there is...

That’s a really important question but I haven’t seen an answer anywhere yet myself.

Bidston Wrexham ORR Judgement on TfW / GBRF

Don’t get me started again ! Two slow routes is better than one, but limited stop services on the Birkenhead Chester route used to be much faster than current timings until 1967. If you want to get people out of cars you have to do better than that for a 20 mile journey.

Bidston Wrexham ORR Judgement on TfW / GBRF

The Wrexham Bidston Rail Users Association release says this “The WBRUA welcomes this long-awaited decision. It is pleased to note that two passenger trains an hour will run for most of the day, albeit that the additional services are being planned as limited stop and will not call at some...

Bidston Wrexham ORR Judgement on TfW / GBRF

I think so yes! I only read it quickly, ORR also criticise NR for not defining the route as “congested“ given this tussle for paths and for not having produced a plan to sort it.

A German Railway Reinstatement Criteria Set & UK Business Cases Etc

World Beating Britain as usual then :D including the same items in the UK as those covered in this German example is maybe not the same as weighting their importance and including them in terms of business case benefit cost ratios? Just Askin’ as they say:D

A German Railway Reinstatement Criteria Set & UK Business Cases Etc

This article is in English! My German wouldn’t stretch to that level at all ! In short the PWC work reported on here is much more positive in the case for rail.

A German Railway Reinstatement Criteria Set & UK Business Cases Etc

This article in International Rail Journal was interesting as it seems to me the scope and range of benefits assessed here for line openings is rather broader than what the UK Normally does. There is always a Rail Forums ding dong about crayons and fantasies regarding putting railways back...

    FNW's London attempt

Agree with a lot of this, can’t see any reason why the Greater Manchester to London & SE market cannot be better served and successful in the way that Birmingham/WM to London and SE works well for passengers offering different pricing and journey time variations that suit all segments.

What if theory on the railway network

Although the original question in this thread is a”what if” the exchanges it has set off really ought to point us in the other direction to “what next” Given climate crisis, and the percentage of pollution/greenhouse gasses caused by road vehicles, literally a threat to human life itself what...

Transport for the North - NPR funding stopped

Can‘t agree with that! The difference is that UKGov is overwhelmingly inclined to dish out orders and will not seek mutually agreeable outcomes. For a difference look at Scotland where SNP cooperate with Greens and Wales where Labour and Plaid will get along together. All TfN are asking for is...

Transport for the North - NPR funding stopped

Agree with you, it isn’t the 1960’s any longer when there was simply thought to be no alternative to, or any disadvantages in the proliferation of road motor vehicles. Unfortunately we are still planning as though this was the case. In addition there is genuine contempt in the Westminster...

    Provocative cooperation discussion

Well done you for introducing some of our militant capitalists on here to the notion of cooperation! The railway gains from involving everybody and the “great communications” paragraph from Baldrick is a welcome support for your theme. Good ideas come from every level where there is encouragement.
