    Station Announcements

With Reading, Birmingham New St and Edinburgh, do announcements play globally on the concourse, or announcements only play on the individual platforms? I think I read that Birmingham NS may be the latter. Add

    Station Announcements

Thanks. So I am guess that the "East Coast" main line stations are all manual? Can you offer any suggestions for main interchange/junction stations that have a good volume of trains with automated announcements? I have so far recorded at Nottingham, Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool Lime St...

Automated Announcements in Glasgow and Inverness

Hello, I am seeking assistance in regard to automated platform announcements at Glasgow Central, Glasgow Queen St and Inverness stations. Are these stations so equipped, and if so, do they play globally on the concourse (so I can record them in one spot), and/or individually on the relevant...

XPT's and and Xplorer at Tarro (Australia)

I've videoed and photoed at Tarro a few times. It has the long straight at one end, the sweeping curve at the other, and there arent all that many passengers to worry about. You can also set yourself up on the side of the overbridge, and most likely wont see road traffic. Found it alot better...

    NXEA / c2c Photographic Locations

Funnily enough, I read the bylaws before heading over, and printed a copy to keep with me while travelling. We hade problems at only a few stations, dont know how many times I heard the "counter terrorism measures" mentioned, but, thankfully, if there were rail fans close by they all came to our...

Thanks everyone for the links and advice. Out of curiousity, roughly how many colour schemes does NXEA have? I saw a few just from the photos in the link 87015 gave....

    Automated Announcements

Thanks to everyone for their help so far. I have been Wikipedia-ing all the information given in the posts, and have now stumbled upon information pertaining to SPT in Glasgow. It described an automated announcement system on the Argyle and North Clyde Lines...

    Automated Announcements

It's interesting that you say that the announcements dont see closed stations or lines. I have read that London Underground announcements take switch between peak and off peak modes. You think open and closed stations would be just as important.

    Automated Announcements

When I was at Cardiff Central, I found platform zero was really good for recording, until a railcar terminated there. Thankfully it shut down as its departure to Ebbw Vale Parkway was some time off. Most of the major stations I went to played the announcements in the concourse area, so...

    Automated Announcements

I must admit that when I travelled from Hastings to Southampton Central, by the end of the journey I was almost over being welcomed aboard, but I'd still prefer that over nothing at all. I would have throught that DDA rules would have required announcements regardless. I recall South West...

    Automated Announcements

Thanks Geezertronic. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Thanks LondonLarry. Is the voice on board these sets also Julie Berry? I noticed on the Class 377 sets that auto announcements queue if a guard talks when the announcmement is due. At least that way you dont miss anything. ---...

    Automated Announcements

Are there any particular lines/rollingstock I should look out for and travel on on London Midland? I visited all the lines in the area, but only got the automated help points.

    Automated Announcements

Yep, looking for any rollingstock, and stations, that have the automated announcements. I only had the opportunity to be at Liverpool Central for about 30 minutes, so only got a few of the regulars. A longer is certainly needed. As for the 507/508 units, the only non station announcement I...

I was recently in the UK for a month (I live in Australia), chasing announcements at stations and on board trains. Some of the major stations I have visited were Nottingham, Manchester Piccadilly, Liverpool Lime Street, Cardiff Central, and Liverpool St, Kings Cross and Waterloo in London. I...
