Stopping short on a route VIA ticket

Morning, Is it possible to stop short on a route via ticket having not yet reached the via point? The ticket in question has a LONDON routing in the yellow pages and a VIA point that can be achieved after having reached LONDON.

    Watford Blockades

The schedules from network rail download every night. The cancellation wasn't known about early enough to put the work in, so all the train schedules had stops missing at supposedly closed LU stations. The lorol customer service staff have seen this and then had to add these stops back in for...

    Watford Blockades

That is because the train has been restored after having been originally cancelled at the closed LU stations. There is no "due to cancelled industrial action" message in the system and it say delayed regardless of the action taken

    Croydon to Clapham Validity

Thanks. Having an origin station not a routeing point is new for me, so good to know I did it right!

    Croydon to Clapham Validity

Hi, Just working through an example in the routeing guide and wanted to check I'd got this right: Whyteleafe to Clapham Junction Route = any permitted. Whytleafe has routeing points Redhill and Croydon. Redhill does not pass the fares test, Croydon does. So I look up routes...

Routeing guide update 9 Oct 2013

This is rather disappointing! My go to fare for travel London to the North West using a ticket from FGW land is now a little suspect. Still fine in the paper guide, but wasn't valid via London in NRES. I can however get it appear for one train that has an enormous wait at night. How can an...

    High Speed Two (HS2) discussion

All long distance travel is subsidised. Only FCC, Southern and SWT routes made a profit for the government last year

Can a train be formed of 3 DMUs?

Chiltern is 7 car DOO due to sighting issues. A trial of an 8 car was performed at Wembley Stadium, but with only look back/mirrors, the visibility wasn't good enough at the rear of the train. With CCTV this would presumably be resolvable as some key stations are already 8 cars and there are...

0759 Woodgrange Park - Hampstead Heath extended to Willesden Junction

It's been running to Willesden High Level as a trial for a number of weeks until the paperwork could be sorted for clearance for the 172 to the bay in passenger service

Chiltern failure to tell passengers which platform.

Anything is possible with money. I'm not familiar with the Edinburgh example, but how does the CIS know which monitors along the length of the platform to display which trains. I.e. how does it know which train is along side?

Chiltern failure to tell passengers which platform.

The software can't do it. The hardware layout can't do. Where on a 10 car platform is the front and rear section going to be when the platform can have any length of train from 2 to 7 carriages. With a 7 car and a 2 car, one of the trains will be in both halves. With 2 x 2 cars both trains...

    London to Chester x2

Hi everyone, I'm travelling London to Chester and return twice in 8 days. I have PRIV and Arriva staff pass and believe the following is my best bet unless some has anything better? 2 x EUS - MKC Anytime day single 2 x MKC - EUS Anytime day single 2 x MKC - RUG Anytime day single 2 x...

    Privs & Rovers

This is certainly a can of worms! I have been reading back and see the issues I may face as I mentioned up the thread. I've also seen a quote that ATOC have ruled that a staff pass is a leisure pass for the purposes of 19(C), but I cannot find anything to back that up. Does anyone have...

    Privs & Rovers

Thanks guys those combinations do get it down nicely. Trying to find something official that allows the use of the oyster on virgin will be the tricky bit. Will have to dig through my paperwork and see if I can find anything convincing! --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Does anyone...

    Privs & Rovers

The original plan was Chiltern to brum for ATW all free. With the engineering works at Wolverhampton we're looking at an extra 2 hours, so yes the virgin train is looking tempting for the time saving. I thought I had something with the west mids day ranger, but then realised it didn't count as...

    Privs & Rovers

Any help with London to Crewe (this weekend to meet with diverted ATW Cambrian trains). I've been looking at rovers after reading about them here, but I can't do much better than the PRIV single unless I do more than one trip in a week and then the savings nicely stack up!). I've got PRIV...

    London to Liverpool via Manchester

I remember specifically looking up the validity in the past and it said break of journey allowed if resumed before 12:00. I've looked it up in brfares, but all I can see is break of journey allowed with ticket type except where explicitly stated. As for buying to other destinations like...

    London to Liverpool via Manchester

Hi everyone, I realise this subject has been done before, but I'd just like to check that nothing has changed as I'll be telling 10 people to do this. We're looking to leave Euston Friday afternoon/evening travelling to Manchester, then on to Liverpool Saturday morning and returning from...
