Generic for all Electrostars. The "Short Station" is driven by MITRAC Database and GPS. The train only knows its next station has a short platform but cannot know which platform it is for.
The GPS tells the train it's within a radius of the station.
What allows the, say all 8 coaches, to open...
Depends what PIS system the train uses and if a Code is programmed or available for such a Stopping Pattern...
If not, then the Guard or Driver should be making PAs.
Usually, the Rolling Stock Owner/ Builder or Trainers from TOCs with Experience and Documentation of the Unit/Loco.
There's a lot of background work that goes into the creation of Training Material and we rely on a lot of resources to make it happen.
They should all be turned but guessing for whatever reason a couple haven't been. I'd imagine the need for service is greater than a turning move, which will eventually happen.
Does appear the 1800 was booked a 379 that had a problem. 1T48 ran as far as Cambridge. So guessing a Crew issue.

... Well it was always the plan but the recommissioning has taken longer, due to X, Y & Z. Modifications were required to make these run on the Cambridge & Kings Lynn sections, so nothing could be done until this work was completed and tested reliably.

But using 1 service. I doubt many would actually do End to End.
The 700 went into Long Term "Storage" as it had a motor flashover. Wasn't repairable at Three Bridges, so a solution had to be planned, and ended up at Eastligh.

Not only that, as mentioned previously, the IET is proven product on the ECML. They do not need to go through as many hoops as a new train to introduce them. It makes total business sense.
Even down to Stop Car Marks at stations, which are available and in place for 5 car IETs.
