    Railway History

Also, there is not many railway enthusiasts where I work, just people who are very capable at the job and are good drivers. I am not an enthusiast in anyway and it didn’t hold me back

    Railway History

Just to put your mind at ease a little I joined the railway (driving job) with absolutely zero knowledge and got through. I researched the company very well but as for knowledge on routes and ins and outs I did not know anything. They took me on because I demonstrated the competencies that...

    Any ex-Police here?

Did 11 years including acting up final year before I left and I can say without any doubt, that it is arguably the best decision I have ever made! From the updates I get off my ex colleagues it has got even worse and there is lots looking to jump ship. My advice would be go for it. You will find...

    Police Constable to Railway

Such a supercilious attitude could well be toxic (unless this person is a troll....but who trolls a rail forum!) but there are people like this in any profession. so I would imagine the best thing for new recruits is to crack on and seek advice from those less arrogant and willing to help. Sadly...

Things always take a down turn when you start randomly quoting Boris johnson on a rail forum

    Police Constable to Railway

Not a good thing for the police service as a whole, but a good thing for those individuals who are realising the failings, taking the bull by the horns and making a better life for themselves. It is such a shame though that so many are leaving and tells a story really doesn’t it....

Becoming a train driver after university?

If you want to do it then go for it. I am 34 and had two careers which did not relate to my degree. I have just started training to be a train driver. So no reason at all that you can’t do it if you want to

    Depot Driver and References

I am on the current depot driver course and they didn’t check mine until after the job offer/pre employment meeting (which I thought was a little odd) but that’s the way it’s done so don’t worry about it

Took couple of days for the urine test to come back for me and the results were via a phonecall. They email those results to recruitment at EMT who I spoke to the following day and confirmed that the notice could go in. Best of luck to you all

I wouldnt worry too much just yet....I had an ECG in my old job and had to see the GP then the Cardiologist. After further test I was told the original nurse who did the ECG had simply put one of the pads in the wrong place!

I lived in Liverpool when I applied for this job and explained in my covering letter that I would relocate. I now start this role on January 8th at derby so they must take on those willing to relocate! Good luck to you all
