It's the best thing that's ever happened to the east.
The mk2's & mk3's were life expired junk that offered a terrible travelling experience. The 745's are excellent.
Likewise for the local lines the 755's offer immense improvement in comfort over the old sprinters and turbostars.
It's...
Apparently it was just condoned off whilst working on the lifts, reports on Reddit that both pianos accessible and in use again.
Not sure how long it's been like this but the St Pancras website now specifically addresses filming the pianos:

This is my concern. I know engineering works have to happen and am used to decades of them on the GEML but usually they're clear about bus timings.
They're just shrugging their shoulders for this. Considering both the GA and XC trains are busy and get mega busy at Cambridge I cant see it going...
What if anything is the official policy on Rail Replacement Buses when 2 operators cover a route? In this case specifically between Cambridge and Stansted Airport.
If you pick this Saturday (20/01/24) for arguments sake.
There is an 07:27 departure from Norwich that should get to Stansted...
Having travelled on the clapped out mk2's, clapped out mk3's and now the 745's the Stadlers are superior in every way. The middle doors and lack of old fashioned vestibule don't even register.
I wouldn't be bothered if the buffet was gone either, I used it regularly maybe 20 years ago but...
It's not. The 2 type fleet idea is solid, they have excess stock, leasing very expensive extra stock is an awful idea.
For longevity I'd love to see them order a couple more of both variants of 745 thus enabling a consistent service but it wont happen.
I find the 745 and 755 seats extremely comfortable. Even the original 375 seats are fine, just not the thin ones on the /9. Ryanair slimline seats comfortable too.
Not comfortable seats include mk2 and mk3 original seats, the old thick Ryanair seats to name a few.
There's still some gaps in the current Norwich - Stansted service too (trains just go Norwich - Cambridge and you have to change like in the old days), would be nice to see them filled in if / when possible.
My only experience of them is in GA land but no, absolutely not.
The seats are comfortable, the windows are huge, the design makes for a large airy interior, the lighting is nice, they are very smooth and comfortable, toilets are nice. They also look almost new after a few years too. I did see...
Does a 745 have more seats and standing capacity than 3x 755?
It's a real shame they cant just order 10 more 745's, 5 of each spec. Would sort everything out and future proof Anglia.
New stock always has issues bedding in, if there's more serious issues with the 745's we're not being told. With that said the 745's are still 100,000x better than life expired clapped out junk such as mk3's and the 755's are also a magnitude of improvement greater than what they replaced. As a...
Personally I've found them amazing, the travelling experience in GA land has been thoroughly transformed both on the local lines and Intercity. Bright, spacious, comfortable and airy. No rattling (or squalling, screeching, and all the other sounds the life expired mk3's made).
Stansted...
I'd love to see the actual stats for peaks post and pre covid.
I am 100% wfh, about 5% of my team work from the office fully. A few do hybrid. Most are like me. All of my friends are either full wfh or hybrid.
Of course this only works for office staff but I'd be amazed if it ever went back...
Is it really that hard to turn out 9 745's from each subfleet every day? Why? These are brand new trains with maintenance contracts with the manufacturer. I'm well aware there's always teething troubles and hated the life expired junk we had before so I'm not approaching this from a nostalgic...
Even more of a disgrace that the StanEx is still operating at only half the frequency it used to, and they still cant turn out enough trains to run it.
