SET, SWT, Southern, Thameslink, Great Northern, Greater Anglia, Great Western and C2c have all recently advertised for trainee drivers. A lot of them seem to pretty much have rolling recruitment! Check their websites regularly.
As for the tube, I understand you would need to enter Tfl in a...
Also, GWR had a pretty much permanent advert looking for qualified drivers running over the last few years. I'm not sure if it is still up but there could well be qualified drivers waiting to move.
Best bet is look at the London TOCs if you want that job...
We are having a lot of short formations across the TL side at present. Grumbling 319's, stroppy 377/387s etc along with the usual staff shortages, driver training for 700's and disruption on the Southern side. It can't be fun for passengers.
One thing that really 'grinds my gears' at present...
Also depots at Hornsey, Finsbury Park and WGC. Partial closure at Kings Cross. No depot at London Bridge mentioned yet so guessing it looks unlikely.
Split TL/Southern depot at Horsham.
Sadly a Saturday job wont be allowed so if you want in you'll have to face those few months without as much cash. Get saving now in advance if you can! We all had to do it but its definitely worth it. ??????
I did 9 years but lack of career progression and constant cuts did it for me. Plus it really is a thankless task! Pay cut was fine. Had to tighten spending for 15 months but after that all was good. Never looked back!!:D
My Bedford service said it was delayed due to having to wait for a member of train crew last week and I was there on time - it was the train that was half an hour late due to signal failure at Gatwick!
Now this I must query (I know you're a TL guru so i'll be polite!) Often in the peak a sb fast is delayed for a nb slow at West Hampstead South Junction BUT aside from then, on a nb service I am often pathed after a sb fast. I'm on time probably 19 times out of 20 on a St Albans or Luton service...
I remember seeing plenty of FGW adverts when they were still around IMH insinuating they were investing £6 billion in the railway. Nope, that'll be Network Rail...
London Bridge - Sutton via Wimbledon (limited)
London Bridge - Sutton via Hackbridge (limited)
London Bridge - Sutton via West Croydon
Only three but a start!
I was surprised to learn that Walthamstow Central is now eclipsing Seven Sisters in terms of passenger numbers and that it is this which is the main driving force between having all peak time Vic line trains terminating at Central in the next few months rather than Seven Sisters.
I...
It's more common to be "wrong routed" but actually sign the route (but just not be going to that destination on that service) than to be wrong routed and not actually sign the route at all.
Though that's at my TOC where we do metro/suburban so sign lots of diversionary bits and bobs just...
Spot on. I wasn't including Kings Cross or any of its services. TL only stops at St Pancras at present so none of the station on the GN can be included yet.
Don't know anything about a Platform 0 (perhaps I should!) but the former engineer sidings and snowplough siding (?) adjacent to Platform 1 are being taken OOU according to the WON so maybe something is afoot!
This has probably already been answered by the many posts but why have the 387/2s even got pantographs anyway if they're going to Gatwick Express? Everyday I do a Brighton job I seem to be on pair of new 387/2s. We have more than GatEx do!
There will be no change. The unit doing the coupling has to have the cab door shut for interlock anyway, the other unit is irrelevant as they're not electrically coupled a this point, until you hit the couple button. As you no longer need to do a static brake test you won't need all doors closed...
