Also, don't mention that you were running late, do mention the ticket office was closed and you always buy a ticket there. The problem with telling them you were running late is that they may query how you would have had time to buy a ticket and still get the train had the office been open...

    Bicycles on barred trains

Not sure how it would be a security threat. :? Definitely an obstruction though. Hence why they're not allowed on trains in rush hours or anytime in the deep tube lines, as if you had to do an evacuation, it could well make things more difficult not to mention the general space they take up.

    Location

All you can do is apply and go from there. You may be successful, you may not. While location is important, as you can understand a TOC being reluctant to train a driver who lives miles away as they may just leave the company when qualified, it seems different TOCs place different levels of...

    NorthernRail Trainee drivers 2013

    Driver assessment....

Hmmm strange. Mine were just under 12 months ago and travel/lunch was covered. Mind you, considering the number of applicants and the fact that there can't be many other industries where you would get free travel & lunch to a job interview then I guess no one can really complain!

I guess it will depend on the individual circumstances and they would take each case on its merits etc. I think it would be impossible to say. And you got caught?! Now that really is bad luck! Sorry that's the cynic in me -ignore it! I'm not sure how you would be able to prove that...

Yes they do and you get free travel on First services to your assessment unless it has changed recently?

    TOC's and depots

Nope not where i'm at. They stated that this was because very few leave. Absolutely - I don't disagree. But if you re-read my post you'll see I was referring to if i wanted to move on in the future. I'm not looking to go anywhere for a long time, if ever, but no harm in keeping your options...

It's to sift the numbers down further and doesn't count as one of your attempts.

    TOC's and depots

Last year I applied to a London suburban TOC, knowing that they took on a fair few externals, though I was living oop norf at the time. I used a family members address in London to show proximity to the depots because I was quite keen to move down to the big smoke for a few years. As it...

    Penalty Fare-enforcement may involve Blackmail

Helmut, let me try and simplify this issue of strict liability that you seem to be finding it incredibly difficult to grasp by using the speeding analogy already used somewhere in the depths of this mile long thread (another offence of strict liability). If you drive at 35mph in a 30mph zone...

Use of emergency door release at stations

Neither would you lock people on the train for half an hour if you were wanting to speak to someone about fare evasion! It's about being proportinate. Another example: a stabbing in a nightclub. Police won't let anyone leave initially on their arrival. If it was a stolen purse in a nightclub...

    Prosecuted and Fined

Hi Paul. I'm glad you've got it sorted but you need to take action to stop it happening again. The way the courts/police work is that even though your conviction has been quashed, the police would have no record of the actual incident where the offender used your details. If further down...

Use of emergency door release at stations

Are you for real? Are you suggesting the police, the TOC (or whoever) are guilty of false imprisonment??? You miss your stop and want to get off but the trains started off for the next stop - are you going to say that's false imprisonment too?! The reason BTP will have asked...

    Safety critical experience

I'm with Dieseldriver on this. As I said in your other post - when you complete the application form (and later structured interview if you get invited to assessment) you can use examples from anywhere. Now you've sat down and thought about it you can see that you have experience of some of the...

    Excess Fares: Recent Mystery Shopping

I agree. When you read threads like this where ticket office staff are unable to issue the correct ticket or more worryingly unaware of what they are being asked to do, and you read RJ's EMT thread, it shows further evidence that either the ticketing is too complex or the staff are poorly...

    Penalty Fare-enforcement may involve Blackmail

Er no. That won't be happening. You are joking here right? CPS will not be looking at any file relating to this! You don't happen to be a Freeman on the Land do you? :p
