Some reports of EMR's customer experience at St Pancras on the Sheffield Online Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/share/15m2Ev5geJ/
Talk of multiple cancellations, huge queues with no information or staff, crush loaded trains, suspended reservations...
EMR yet again not exactly covered themselves in glory at St Pancras.. some coverage from Sheffield Online Facebook page with photos https://www.facebook.com/share/15m2Ev5geJ/
They'll be charged for an "AAA" ticket - accompanied animals and articles. Basically luggage in excess of your free allowance. If I remember right you are allowed a maximum of two large bags and one small bag within certain dimensions which should be stored in the designated luggage area...
replacement bus departs Rotherham Central 13:05 and arrives Sheffield Interchange bus station (across road from railway station) 13:35, tram is indeed quicker if you want Sheffield City Centre but about the same if you need to be at Sheffield station.
First have now registered their changes from May. This includes a timetable change to the 8 and withdrawal of 8a, so my guess is that the Stagecoach 7 and First 8 will both run hourly instead of half hourly with the combined frequency on the core section of route being every 30 mins. Of course...
A number of timetable changes have been registered for May including the withdrawal of Sheffield service 8a. Further details not yet available. https://bustimes.org/licences/PB0002307
First bus do tap-on-tap-off in South Yorkshire, but they are the only local operator to do so. The tap off causes delays to service - people queue up to tap off and no-one can get on the bus until they have done so! This is made worse when the tap off reader isn't working (pretty common) and...
That's the Stagecoach Yorkshire head office in Barnsley town centre, where the management and admin staff are based including commercial and finance functions, they look after all the Yorkshire Opco depots - Barnsley, Rawmarsh, Ecclesfield, Holbrook and Stonegravels. It is of course conveniently...
You'll also note that Chesterfield station has signs up advising change here for buses to Chatsworth and Bakewell.
Elsewhere in the region the electronic departure boards at the bus stops near Bamford and Hope railway stations also show train departures.

That isn't EMR Intercity though - Luton Airport Parkway is served by EMR Connect and St Albans is purely Thames link. Both are on Thameslink, one of the former Network South East London commuter lines.
It is of course still the Midland main line heading north out of St Pancras either way, a...
The 65/66 operates with split registration at Tideswell. The 66/X66 operates to Chesterfield instead of Sheffield for operational convenience as the depot is there to keep the drivers hours manageable. In the case of the 66 it runs as a 65 from Buxton to Tideswell then turns into a 66 which runs...
Another public consultation/survey...
This one about the new fleet to be ordered under franchising, accessibility and changes.

The cap originally started for a combination of getting people out and about after covid (following messaging along the lines of do not use public transport or you may die) and addressing the cost of living crises, so fair play on the timing!
£2 for all but really short journeys is comically...
Obviously the perspective is different according to where people live - inner city, outer suburbs, rural, small town etc but I wonder how much bus use is generated by a £3 cap given bus use continues to decline and services are continuing to get cut.
Personally id rather scrap the fare cap...
Yes, think that could be hard to beat! Just looked at the list of operators for the Travelmaster range of tickets (Citywide, SY Connect, Wayfarer and Getabout) in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire and there's a fair few on it though:
- Arriva Yorkshire
- Arriva Midlands
- Ashbourne Community...
The 42 in its current guise is pointless. It doesn't serve the Dronfield area which is the main purpose of the 43/44 and simply duplicates the 24 to the point of following behind one all the way from Sheffield City Centre to Lowedges (other than the 24 going via Queens Road and the 42 via London...
To some extent I think it is whatever language is fashionable in public sector organisations that fund such things. The current buzzword seems to be "hub".
I would say an interchange is somewhere geared up for making connections and most relevant if it is a multi-modal facility where you can...
main reason is the distance between Parkgate and Rotherham Central - on departure from Parkgate they can't accelerate much until after crossing over then they need to start braking in good time for Rotherham Central as they have to pass through the main line platform at low speed.
