fare dodgers and GDPR - what are the TOCs actually allowed to do?

As long as you made it clear when collecting that it was for "future crime prevention" rather than just investigating this particular instance. On this forum, we are continually being told that being issued a penalty fare is not the same as committing a crime, it's just an acknowledgement that...

fare dodgers and GDPR - what are the TOCs actually allowed to do?

I'm not sure the "public task" argument applies here but you'd still have the right to object to your data being held. Also, once your data has been used for the purpose it was collected, it should be removed in a timely manner and cannot be used for any other purpose without you being informed...

    Special Offers Discussion

I know and should have been stated as such by the original fares advisor. Forum rules and all that.

Stations with GOOD real ale bars?

I've visited most of the real ale pubs in Darlington and none of the decent ones are near the station.

Stations with GOOD real ale bars?

I'd rather they opened shorter hours than closing for good because they are not profitable.

    Advance single Avanti west coast

Connection from where? Is the ticket an advance from Euston or are you connecting into the train from Euston with a ticket starting elsewhere?

Stations with GOOD real ale bars?

Do you mean closing because they're not busy thus saving staff and other costs?

Stations with GOOD real ale bars?

The Station Buffet at Bridlington is closed. Carnforth has 2 real ale outlets within station buildings. Plus Harrogate and Ilkley (although from memory this only has 1 real ale).

Trivia: current obscure/unusual regular timetabled services

I accept that people are familiar with the concept of headcodes but I doubt most people on this forum have learned them all off by heart. It's not dissimilar to using station short codes without first using the full name as per forum rules.

Trivia: current obscure/unusual regular timetabled services

I love it when people use headcodes that mean nothing to most people.

    Annoying television adverts...

It should be a criminal offence to feature Will Ferrel in any advertising campaign.

    Station pubs (part two?)

+1 for the Horse Shoe. Plus there are two Wetherspoons eiter side of the station at the river end. The Sir John Moore to the west on Hope St/Argyle Street and the Crystal Palace to the east on Jamaica Street at the junction with Midland Street.

    Annoying television adverts...

I find the Buffet Boy advert by NuMan quite disturbing. I think they should stick to erectile dysfunction.

    Station pubs (part two?)

I recently visited all the real ale pubs in Stafford centre. I'd also recommend The Bird in the Hand, it had a good choice of real ales and the food was reasonably priced and pretty good. As mentioned it is the nearest to the station only a couple of minutes walk. The 'Spoons was impressive...

    Annoying television adverts...

I hate the LNER advert with the Muppet dancing around and walking on the carriage ceilings. Encouraging noisy and antisocial activity. Against the NRCoT, surely?
