Absolutely right. XC are returning only some of their West Country services from Manchester, one of which is 1V45 - the service that used to run through to Newquay on Saturdays, but is only going as far as Bristol. It’s not easy as it is to get to Cornwall from the North West, if the Avanti...
Ah ok! Thanks for the heads up on that one. It’s unfortunate for sure as I’ve used the service direct from Manchester and it was super convenient, but it was never enough to run a 5 coach train all that way in the first place. It’s good that GWR are running one of the best summer service...
Newquay’s additional summer services look to be confirmed now. No XC service at all this year, but two IET returns per day (At least one from Paddington, and one from Bristol Parkway / Plymouth), as well as all the usual 150 shuttles. Are XC ever planning to reinstate their summer Newquay services?
There’s some sort of event on at Paddington today with all sorts of press and other social media Railway folk. Is this another evacuation or something more?

Just found this on twitter which seems to have answered my own question!
I’ve had this happen to me before at Piccadilly’s booking office. It is arguably a little strange that this railcard does not have the ridiculous and abstract ‘£12 before 10am’ rule (yet another card also covering 16/17 year olds DOES), but you’d hope staff would’ve been informed about the...
Some very strange changes compared to now. I notice Blackpool / Preston has lost its 0333 Airport train, and Preston - Colne still doesn’t run early / late enough, especially on Sundays. Also, trains from Blackpool don’t reach Piccadilly and the airport until quite late in the day, and instead...
I'd say Barnstaple is a bit of a disappointing one. It's a nice journey down the line from Exeter, but the railway station is between a main road, a supermarket and a dull retail park, and is over the river from the actual (and rather nice) town of Barnstaple.
Seen a mk4 set use platform 1 at least twice in the past few years, that’s plenty long enough. I’m not sure if the lower number platforms have seen an IET though
The minimal time saving that HS1 gives on the service towards Faversham is not worth the more expensive ticket for me, and I also prefer using a far more comfy 375 from Victoria.
Well see last year I went to Birmingham and took the summer Saturday voyager (Which originated from Manchester) right the way down, wasn’t too bad, but a hired ECML HST would’ve been far more interesting! Cheers for the responses though folks
Hello, stumbled across this (relatively) cheap fare for an anytime single to Newquay, valid via Hereford. Supposedly it’s valid for two days, does this mean a break of journey is allowed (Staying in a hotel mid-way) overnight? Sorry it’s a bit of a strange one, but thanks...
Reported as 2x195/0 this morning up to Maryport and back..

The northern and inland chunk of the Cumbrian Coast Line, from about Workington all the way to Carlisle is a bad one, a huge lack of scenery, and it’s so slow too! Coming in close behind that has got to be Doncaster to Lincoln via Saxilby - for the same reasons as above.
Currently on 1B44, the last passenger VT arrival into Euston. Train was super quiet from Wolves but it seems half the urban polutafuon of Birmingham have piled on at New Street! No hope of upgrading all passengers to first, as was speculated by members.
Update: It’s more of a ‘mass migration to...
