Anyone have any news updates about 50035 & 50044 at Derby?
I’m presuming that they’re still there as not seen any info regarding moves.
Seems to have gone very quiet about these two.
Carl
Have you tried a bit of advertising in the locals?
I love the line & not because it’s a 5 mile drive from home.
Some lines could learn a thing or two from The Battlefield line.
Recently visited this line, South Devon Railway & the Bodmin and Wenford.
Not big lines but oozing with charm &...
Fancied the East Lancs Railway tour on 7th March 2026 just for the class 50 entertainment
However 1st class non dining plus table for two supplement = £618o_O
Can’t justify spending that much on a railtour
I can have 3 long weekend breaks in the Southwest for that!
Think my days of...
45015 ex Battlefield Line seen travelling East on an Allely’s low loader, on the A44 Worcester to Evesham road near Pinvin (Pershore bypass) at 1145.
Long Marston?
Sure I saw a somewhere photo of (whispering) 45015 having been moved to the small shed just past the platform
Firstly was it Ai & secondly if real how did they manage it?
Though the old girl had a fubarred bogie meaning it couldn’t be moved without great difficulty
Managed to see & photograph 50027 today (Saturday)
She was in the same position as your photo but I got shots of her from both ends.
Not the greatest shots but I was super happy seeing her
Photos are on my camera so will upload them when I’m back from Hampshire
Remember seeing her in a photo from a bridge at Ropley tucked away in a siding a few years ago
Fingers crossed it’s not that siding as I can’t see a photo being taken:frown:
Hello, We’re down in Hampshire visiting my family this weekend.
They gave us tickets for the Watercress line which I’ve never been to so we’re using those.
My question is, whereabouts on the line is 50027 parked up & am I likely to be able to get a few photos of her?
Out of the 18 survivors of...
We used goggles in September 2005 for the Duke of Gloucester tour
Also came in hand for a few vestibule sessions between Crewe & Stafford behind class 86’s & for the 50’s in & out of Paddington in the mid to late 80’s.
Yeah theres a big shed there at Wetmore.
Last place I thought she might be.
Various stuff littered about
08’s, 20’s, 31’s, 47’s power cars & all manner of rolling stock
Was told to sling my hook or words to that effect by some grunting jobsworth even though I wasn’t on the property or near the...
Thanks Is2270
Live in Ashby De La Zouch so only about 10 miles away:D
Be rude not to pop over for a nosey

Had a nosey
Checked the east & west yards, Nemesis nothing
She must be well hidden.
Thanks anyway
Carl
Each Class 50 is fitted with 2 KV10s. One designated CU3 regulates the main traction generator output power. The other, CU6 regulates the voltage output from the Electric Train Heating (ETH) generator.
As for the Castles I understood that when they’re finished with they’re off abroad
Went there last year when the DMU was running & 33201 was parked up in front of 33053, the 33/0 seems to have disappeared
Would’ve like a blast behind that.
Turn up, nice bacon butty & a brew, a bit of Slim Jim thrash & all for 15 notes.
Not a bad days entertainment eh.
Kids need their ears filling with a big meaty 16 cylinder power unit like that that’s strapped inside a class 50 when it’s on notch 7
It’ll intimidate them or lure them in for life.
My work here is done.
Personally I think too many gadgets make a worse driver!
A friend has just purchased an electric Peugeot, gadgets everywhere.
He wasn’t the world’s greatest driver to start with (nether am I).
Now he drives everywhere full on with the belief that the car will stop him if he throws it at the...
Fire risk & still use steam?
I was there a few years ago when it was baking hot & a class 50 was working the diesel turn.
I did it from Kidderminster to Bridgenorth & return.
On the return we were stopped at Hampton Loade for around 90 mins as the steam engine had set fire to the line side just...
