Most expensive ticket you've bought or sold

I was told that a season only pays for itself if you do just over 5 return journeys a week (Gold cards notwithstanding) Guess there's a distance thing involved as well (that statement was for a fairly short distance)

Earlier train fault cancelling train but only later in journey

Was it due to a fault? Perhaps there was an issue with train crew (end of shift/hours/sickness) which meant that they had to stop at Surbiton and there was no relief available?

    Improved solent network

Because the council only want to invest in their pet projects, leaving everything else a victim to mismanagement. Let's invest a load of money into the privately owned Pyramids centre. Let's leave the pier to ruin. Let's close most of the public conveniences Let's have Obama over for DDay...

Scariest Thing You Do As A Driver

If it was a situation where you either had to change ends inside, or outside with live tracks (in either sense), wouldn't inside be the safer?

How to appeal a Penalty Fare in style

10/10 for effort, and the FGW twitter team at least has a sense of humour. Maybe this team does as well? Is that a real thing, or could it perhaps be a fake?

South Yorkshire OAP "protests" over trains no longer being free

I asked a driver I know about this, they said that they'd normally give free passage for a couple of stops, then get the passenger to blip in at 0930. Maybe the lady that held up my bus want such an obnoxious woman normally that the driver didn't want to use discretion with her?

South Yorkshire OAP "protests" over trains no longer being free

I've been on buses where a passenger has tried to use their pass at 0928, so the pass is invalid. The machine won't let the driver override it, and the passenger won't pay the £1 fare. What do they do? Stand in the door for 2 minutes, then tap their pass and take a seat. THAT is taking the...

Accident at Welshpool (16 July 2013)

https://www.btp.police.uk/advice_and_information/travelling_safely/level_crossing_safety.aspx "Only cross when the barriers are fully raised and the lights go off, or when you are granted permission by an operator" I'm having a look to find the relevant Act covering this, but found that...

Accident at Welshpool (16 July 2013)

Hmm. I wonder where that came from then, I've heard it from a few sources. Perhaps it's that a local crossing attendant can authorise it but not a remote signaller? (Clutching at straws)

Accident at Welshpool (16 July 2013)

One thing I picked up was that the signaller was unable to authorise road vehicles to pass the wigwags. I was under the impression that the only person who was able to authorise that WAS a signaller.

    Chicago Station Derailment

Fair enough - I was just going by that picture as I saw it. I'm guessing that that incident would not happen over here due to Moorgate controls?
