    Chiltern delay repay appeal

I was badly delayed in my journey. To mitigate the consequences of it I delayed myself further, but it would always have been at least two hours. A number of trains passed us wrong line running while we were stranded - I suspect that's one of them. As I said, it wasn't till about 0940 that we...

    Chiltern delay repay appeal

Yesterday I travelled from Leamington Spa to London Marylebone on the 0720 departure from Leamington (due in 0842). I had an Anytime Day Return from Leamington to Bicester (£15.30 with 16-25 railcard) and an Anytime Return from Bicester to London (£51.30 with the same railcard). The train struck...

mature students railcard - proof required ?

I'm in my 40s and have been a mature student for the past few years and had a 16-25 railcard. Other than some slightly surprised looks from staff in the booking office when buying one once, I've had no queries at all as to my entitlement to it in the course of using it (and tbh most of the time...

    National Rail App

Thank you very much for this! Working well for me.

    Ticket inspections

I have a 16-25 railcard as a mature student and it hardly ever gets asked for - on appearance, I would challenge me as to whether I had one! Even when I offer it, often staff aren't desperately interested.

    Advance ticket - Wrong train.

Yes, it was same operator (I would have noticed a different kind of train!) and at the same time. It's a few years ago now - I did protest to the guard but he was having none of it. I probably should have challenged it with the ToC at the time.

    Advance ticket - Wrong train.

I know how you feel - happened to me a few years ago - caught the train previous to mine by mistake as it was running late and came in at the time mine should have been. I didn't realise what had happened, boarded and had to buy a new ticket... Very frustrating!

    Cambrian timber

I understand the Cambrian timber train hasn't run for a few months (at least). Does anyone know what the current situation is?

Leeds man jailed for 22 months for defrauding LNER (and perverting the court of justice)

I do exactly the same as you and find just the same thing with regard to reporting. Unfortunately, I think they only publish the sentencing remarks in certain high-profile cases.

I think it's the opposite if Cross Country is anything to go by...

Coventry Very Light Rail vehicle tested on new slab track

They say they're going to build one but it'll be a long time before there are any spades in the ground.

Pacers running on preserved railways - your thoughts?

I'd agree some Pacers should be preserved but I have no interest in ever riding on one again! If people turn up to a heritage railway and a Pacer is what shows up, I can understand why they'd feel a bit short-changed.

Carmarthen to Aberystwyth by rail any real advantage over T1 bus?

This is nonsense. The thing about having to 'travel through England' is because England is not on the way from Aberystwyth to Cardiff. There are also other destinations in South Wales (like Swansea) where the full journey round by rail is far too far and consequently takes much too long...

    Exorbitant MG11 Settlement

I'm no expert here and this is a bit speculative but I'm wondering is there not a risk here if it goes to court that given the Railway Company have the purchasing history and know the relevant times during which OP did not have a valid railcard, that they will have paired that with...

Station announcer phraseology no longer used

I can't remember the exact wording but there used to be an announcement about passengers not intending to travel needing to leave the train because it was ready to depart. Not heard that for a long time!

Advance fares on Chiltern over Christmas

They're not even going to run any trains...!

In-between strike days and intermediate days - why no service?

Chiltern have said they're running nothing north of Banbury until 9 January. I can understand troubles on days adjacent to strike action but that's ridiculous.

Arriving in London before 8:30am from Manchester Piccadilly and returning in the evening. Is it possible to get a ticket cheaper than £243.80?

I wondered about driving to Crewe as then you can pick up the route via Nuneaton. I put those details in trainsplit for Wednesday next week (not sure when you're actually going) and there were some results between £80 and £90. It'll be an early start though...!

Cross Country split ticket delay repay advice

I've had Cross Country refund a split ticket combination previously. I have a claim in at the moment too which I'm waiting on hearing back on. Emailing it is definitely the way to go but make sure to include all the information that the webform asks.
