It absolutely can.
The best time I managed to route was a 5:56.
On this run I lost time to
- Starting 3 minutes early due to the planned starting tram running late
- Doing 1CC and Bury before Rochdale (loses time due to buses)
- Missing a tight (potentially impossible?) connection from Exchange...
At Eccles now, barely made the connection at East Didsbury and at the Trafford Centre.
There was a broken down tram on the Rochdale line but it looks to be fixed now with some delays.
Does anyone know if 3113 is out today (or if not, is it visible on either depot)? It and 3005 (long term out of use) are the only ones I haven't seen.
Edit: Found it! It's on Airports (should be the 11:19 from the Airport)
Trying again today!
Cost me a bit more because I've had to get an anytime ticket into Manchester (and depending on the final time, will probably need one to get home too), but there shouldn't be any big events (the run itself is during off-peak) causing issues like football did last time.
The 573 and 574 were created in January 2022 to replace the 570 (the Southern part of the route), the old 574 (the Northern part of the route), and part of the 577 (the Ladybridge section, with the rest of the route un-replaced).
The 583 replaced the 682 (Hag Fold) and 683 (Shakerley/Tyldsley)...
Does anyone know what the 2 99s were on Saturday's 4M42 0227 London Gateway Frghtliner to Trafford Park F.L.T. as of Manchester?

10/01/2026 - Metrolink speedrun attempt 1
Dane Road (Had spare time to get to Altrincham before starting so stepped back a tram at the least used station on the line)
Firswood (didn't need to use it, but a laterunning Airport tram came before the East Didsbury I'd planned for)
What's the route avaliability of the Far North lines, could a 99 go up there.
I'm guessing by the 68s going up there the answer is yes.
The loco would just barely have enough time to go to Wick and back, depending on where it can pass other trains (if they're operational).
If it has to operate...
Not too much.
I used a 12 car from there in November.
coaches 1-4 were the busiest, followed by 5 - 8 slowly trending emptier.
And 9-12 were pretty much empty, I had the declassified first class to myself for quite a while, no one but me was in 11 or 12 leaving Crewe.
By Nuneaton where I got off...
