How could service patterns through Colwich Junction increase capacity

Lowering the speed would mean trains take longer to cross the junction. It might reduce the physical distance of the headway, but the time apart would hardly change.

Fare Payment - How does it get distributed?

And presumably, also for the GM rail ranger, and other ranger tickets within Manchester, although I can't imagine the portions are too large.

Liverpool Baltic Station - opening planned late 2027

    Errors on departure boards

I'm not sure what's better, the 14.5 coach train to Hampton Court that thinks it's only 5, or the 2 carriage 09:09 to E that thinks it's 8.

    Delay Repay claims rejected

When Northern have done the same to me in the past, I just re-submit the claim exactly as it was and it usually gets accepted.

    Errors on departure boards

There was a discussion recently after Avanti started calling at Liverpool South Parkway and it called them Virgin Trains (presumably noone had updated the database).

Daisy Hill Station Water Main Burst

Not surpised really. As long as it's open by Monday so I can get to work! If they start turning trains at Walkden I'll definitely try to make my way over there to use that crossover. Looks like traffic in Wigan has become horrible. All buses running really late (including rail replacements).

Daisy Hill Station Water Main Burst

I noticed the diversions this morning (it seemed a bit too quiet), I'm just happy I've got the day off so I don't have to use the bus. It's gone from expected to be fixed at 15:00, to "the end of the day" now to 6am on Saturday. I hope it doesn't get further delayed. It's a shame how there's...

    Signal berth codes?

Flooding at Daisy Hill has made it a slippery bank?

    Could Northern get additional stock?

Although they really don't have a long dwell there, it's only about 15 minutes (often less). The MMUs will definitely end up on routes with limited wiring (like the 755s already do), but I'd imagine the Hope Valley won't be the first in line.

    Manchester Metrolink (Non speculative discussion)

If one is running late enough that the one behind has caught up, surely it'd be a very short turnaround before the platform is free again. Although I can't see why stopping in the inside the barriers platform would be too much of a problem (you'd just need to get someone to let them out).

How will the WCML work when HS2 reaches Handsacre and no further ?.

Who's to say in 20 years we won't need 6tph of 400m. Multiples of 200 are built in for HS2 now We don't want a point in 30 years when we're all saying the stations at Manchester Airport and Piccadilly were only 300 metres and it was shortsighted to not have them 400 metres given the core of HS2...

How will the WCML work when HS2 reaches Handsacre and no further ?.

Eventually there will be a 400m high speed line from London to Manchester. It might not be ready in the late 2030s as originally planned, maybe 2040s or later, but it will be needed and will happen.

How will the WCML work when HS2 reaches Handsacre and no further ?.

You could split a 400m in P6, so the back 200m can use the Junction towards Manchester and the front 200m picks up the previous super fast's path (Warrington, Wigan, Preston, Lancaster, and onwards to Glasgow Central). And I think the same would work when joining. Obviously there are...

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

I've managed to get the journey planner to give me an itinerary I'm happy with (outbound has all the slow trains until Thameslink, since that would hit 9 changes (and then go over to 11th in total) and return has the stop at Stone, couldn't get it to give me the Lioness line, but I doubt I'll...

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

Looking at the routing maps again, I can't seem to find the mapped route showing Uttoxter. I'm sure it was there years ago, and I can't find it from Salford Crescent either. I wanted to avoid the Hope Valley and do a new line, but via Chesterfield (map PR) it is then! I've got the base route...

Introducing RailUK Tickets - support the forum when booking your rail tickets!

Is anyone able to take a look into why this search is returning sold out (and not showing a return leg at all)? Still trying to buy the same ticket as linked above, but I've given up on putting all the changes in (will still do them) and just want it to show the MML (having the seat picker...

Northern’s New Trains. Thoughts on What Manufacturers Northern Will Choose?

Even having only 2.5% of stations with perfectly level boarding, the other 97.5% would benefit from a smaller step up.
